    G'day

My other half has a small CRT TV that she uses that has 'died'.
I think it is the power switch on the front that has gone on the blink - as I got it working momentarily when having a look, but refused to work again after I turned it off at the button.

It's a good little TV that would be a shame to chuck, but not worth paying $$$ to repair it.

Any one willing/able to take a look at it for a carton/bottle of spirits or $ equiv..?

    Cheers

Does it make any noises when you press the button? Specifically the usual whine associated with a CRT starting up?

EDIT: How old and does it have any form of remote?

No noise when pressing the button. The standby light doesn't even turn on.

5-6 years old - 'Singer' brand.
    Does have a remote.

    Cheers

Is there a model number anywhere on it? Pehaps on a sticker on the back?

Ok, a quick question - have you checked the fuse on the chassis ?

Used to work on a few monitors years ago when i was doing arcade machines.. sometimes, It's not something as simple as a switch - but something more simple like a fuse

Just be careful when you take the back off, there's a red lead ( high tension ) coming from the flyback to the aquadag on the tube.. dont mess with that lead.. it'll make you squeel like a girl.. have a quick look, see if the fuse is blown..

If it's a slow blow, it'll be black/silver or could be balled over inside.. if it's a fast blow - you will see a broken wire.. ( or maybe not, sometimes they crack under the cap - away from the glass, and appear to be alright )

Check that first.. then report back
Come and see us in the 2011 Avon Descent - we're racing boat #234 !
