Relief work is where it's at. Most DC's are short staffed, but cope by splitting the run amongst other posties(which ups your pay yet again). I'm at Rockingham and they regularly need casual relief staff, but it's usually on an on-call basis.
RE is all you need. In some cases they'll fast track you if you don't have your lic too, but as to how that works I dunno.
The bonus is good too.

yeh apparently aust post wont put you thru your licence anymore as too many people were getting the job, getting their licences paid for and then quitting. I know my DC is short staffed (which is bassendean) but from what my boss says, most of them are. I'm sure they would take you no matter what your availability was as 80% of my center do splits as there just isn't enough staff to cover everything.

sounds mint. Riding a bike around for a living. Not bad pay. Only thing that would kill me is getting up that early.

Not wrong there, as a relief I was going out everyday mainly to Bibra lake, Bentley, Palmyra, Welshpool and Bassendean
Cant wait to get ankle out of plaster and get back to work to start earning good money again before everyone gets fully staffed again but I guess that will be sometime away yet

Yeah, but once you've had some quiet days and are home by lunch time it is a different story. You still get paid for your full rostered hours too.
Think of my wife. She's a postie in Mandurah and starts at 4am!!

although im still in the process of getting my L's, is there postie work in mandurah? just curious as I live down here- 4am is a bit of a killer though!
also, it seems the pay is a flat 21.60 if your up and moving before 6ish- easy to do. Finish mid arvo at the latest? gold! Where do i sign?
what bonuses? this has really intrigued me. Must get licence asap!!! Oh and im 73kgs, i think you have to be under 90?

Isn't there a maximum weight limit? That would discount some......

The bonus is $550 if you stay with Post for 6 months for the postie you say nominated you. At the moment there aren't any jobs going at Mandurah, but Rockingham is usually keen to get people. The managers name there is Bill Hill 95996302 if you want to have a chat to him. Good bloke to talk to.
Oh and the rostered hours are 6am start not 4am....that's optional at Mandurah.

I've always thought this would be a great job....
6AM start is a bit hardcore, but mid arvo finish is good. Plus the whole getting paid to ride around.. Oh to dream. If only I hadn't been wasting my life in IT. I'm so close I can taste it. And by 'it' I mean getting out of Tafe....

well i think there is a 90kg weight limit, but it MAY have gone up recently... and that bonus thing they give u is just gift vouchers for coles myer i think so it's not cash in hand which is a bit disappointing haha but still... my center generally starts at 5am with a few ppl starting at 6am if they are on a smaller run, or 7am if they are part time... you can start at 4am if you want to but you don't get paid till 5am...

Doesn't look like there are any Perth positions going, so I'm covering my bases as well as possible in case we do move.

Ah, I meant at the Perth Curtin office.. I'm currently working for them in Kal and there doesn't appear to be anything for me to transfer to, hence looking at other options.

Ha ha ha ha... He was talking to me.... And I'll have you know that I have no idea what I'm going to do once I enter the wonderful world of full time employment... Maybe I should do a Dingus and retire in my mid to late 20's...Bastard...
But that's not the point. Postie would be an awesome job if you could start at 8AM, and still get paid all the awesome bonuses for starting before 6:30....

Is it a full time job?
i.e. sick leave, paid holiday etc etc.
