Yup. If appointed as a full time postie it has all of the usual perks. 4 weeks holidays and 2 weeks sick leave.

yeh i met some crew at my induction who were being put thru their test, but they were learning on postie bikes and once they got their R-E they really didn't have any idea how to ride a bike with a clutch... but they were hired thru skilled, and i am pretty sure it was skilled who put them thru the test.

True Dazza. We had a meeting with several senior staff from Perth today (which is where I found out about Canning Vale) and they said we are down on staff all over the place. They are trying to focus on retaining staff, so there will be more benefits in the pipeline from what they were saying which would be even better if anyone's thinking about it.

A/P will give with one hand but fuck you over with the other.
You will know what I mean when you have a not at fault accident, nearly die and there only concern is getting you back to work no matter how much pain you are in. Comcare legislation sucks balls and is interpreted anyway it suits AP Rehab!
Have they even sorted out a new EBA yet considering the last one ended last year?
Fuk im glad im out of that ass-clown company after 9 years of managements constant bullshit, bullying and harassment.
Aussie post has to many chiefs and not enough Indians and thats why they are so short staffed and have been that way for the last 2 years!
Have fun trying to stay upright, keeping the mail dry, dodging cars, dogs and people in the pissing rain and thunder storms.
I personally know atleast 20 people who have left the job as a postie in the last year, and they were all long termers like myself.
Sorry to bite into your finders fee but I believe the people of PSB deserve to know what the corporation is really like! There is no job satisfaction! If your goin to do it then make sure the money is all you want!

Being a postie isn't all roses.
Won't whine too much... but don't expect the cushiest, "most exciting fun happy time riding a motorcycle all day " job.

Hey it's not an easy job, but what is. However I started at 4.45am and was home at 11.30am today, and that's on a monday which always has a shit lot of mail.
The other thing about being a postie is it's not all about riding a bike, you have to sort your mail into delivery order first thing and this is time consuming, probably takes up to half of your working day depending on the mail volume.
I can recommend it to people who want to start early and finish early, but be prepared to have some really long days when you start, as it does take some time to get used to.

Not to rain on your parade but there is a reason why there are so many postie jobs vacant atm. AP treats their posties like bags of disposable shit. Disagree with me? Work in the job for a while and you'll figure it out.

EDIT: i just read 1BG12R's post. I COMPLETELY AGREE WITH IT. I crashed my postie bike and broke 2 bones in my spine. I was back at work the next day cos AP were too worried about having a "lost time injury". I had my DC manager whining at me cos he was annoyed about having to pay for a cabcharge since i couldnt drive (it hurt too much to depress the clutch pedal in my car). Fkn cnuts. At least i wrote that bike off hahahaha

The only reason to apply for a postie job is to try and out-perform the Super Postie. Good luck fellas

been a postie for 9and half years myself ( fuck i gave them my youth)
like a few people said on here lot of mail sorting in the morning then bike then split then split and maybe another one (for fuck sake somebody join up i'm getting sick and tired of splits) still a thousand bonus stilling willing to pay for license. its not as easy as it looks but its not hard some people can"t handle the indoor side of things lot of bullshit pressure to get you up to speed then more after same as outside on the bike some people rock up on there road bikes and say piece of piss then stack it on the first bundle. places to go if your best mates with the manager and suck real hard.
it really has gone down over the past couple of years its a job the pays allright for what you do

As far as I know you can apply on the website.. there's various places that have things going. One other thing is bear in mind the weight restriction of the rider... Can't remember what it is but fully clothed can't be over 100 kgs or something.
