I had the same thing happen to me, only they approved it. Gave the name a cpl months after I started. You just needa kick up a fuss. When they phone is a good opportunity, and they will phone you.

Did my 2 days of motorcycle training today (says sceptical he who has been riding for 40 years) and it was great, good fun little bikes that are surprisingly capable. The instruction at Alert was first class. It was a bit of a contrast though, Trakdayz Sunday, CT110 Monday.
It was a bit of a wet intro to the world of the Postie though, it absolutely poured today and even with wet weather gear on I still got pretty damp but hopefully there will be more sunny days than rainy ones. Looking forward to my first day on the job at Walliston DC next week.

3rd day for me, been pretty good( although raining, you get used to it and doesn't bother me that much). Just need practice to get all the routines downpat.

so were part time/casual positions available or are they only looking for full timers? Where can we find a list of DC's or are all post offices DCs?

Good luck with it little tool man.. So far its going well for me!
Luminal: Yeah I got given a run yesterday.. The guy is leaving.. So I can start to learn it as of monday! It should be good.. It'll give me 2 weeks to get used of throwing in this run before I can ride.. (Stupid delay on the rider training)
Whats this new way of sorting your talking about? I head the DC managaer Mention in the staff meeting on friday.. But As I'm only new I didn't understand any of it!

Good to have you onboard at Walliston Chris, yes I was drenched by the end of the day, I got caught in that heavy downpour and no where to shelter hopefully next week will be a little better for us.........see you Monday

taddy it's called sequencing... basically the machine at the perth mail center which sorts all of our mail into particular runs also has the ability to sort each run into order... apparently bassendean in the testing center for the whole of australia for this process... we got it first to iron out any bumps, and then if it's sucessful all of the other centers will get it... i personally think it has it's ups and downs... what i like about it so far, is that you only have to throw in whatever the machine can't sort...which for my run is about 2 trays on average... and it pulls out your redirects for you, so you throw those in too... then you do your redirects which is a lot easier with not half as much mail... BUT THEN U HAVE TO MERGE... which is the crap part... it feels like it takes forever... you get your trays of sequenced mail on one side and your hand sorted stuff on the other, and go thru it ALL and put it all in the right place... oh and another benefit is that because u are touching every single letter you can lacky it all up easily... but then if someone addressed the mail slightly wrong, like i've got alot of units and people have the habit of putting the street number before the unit number, so you do come across a few mistakes. Other than that, it's easy as to deliver and I have been finishing quicker every day since we've started it...

Yeah, but not all DC's will be getting the sequenced mail. It takes longer to get out to DC's like Rockingham and Mandurah, and the sequencing requires another run through the machines at the sorting centre, so we won't be getting it down here at all.
Most applications are taken directly through the Australia Post Website. Which is :
Australia Post - jobs At Post WA
