Beaux Arts ball - dress me and Spock

Just putting it out there on this multi-talented diverse motorcycle forum , I need to design/make/borrow/buy costumes for me and Spock for the upcoming Beaux Arts ball The Beaux Arts Ball | Coming to Perth this winter

I have one month to achieve dandyness galore.

What they don't want is is costume-shop gangsters in Zoot suits and molls in hot-pink feather boas, sooo any other ideas??

Low waisted dresses, makeup simple...ruby red lips...smokey eyes...rouged cheeks. Feather or a wrapped head piece as above. Hair as above as well ( go to a hairdresser and treat yourself)

Lolly you can go this way too... i'm sure it's a look that would work for you as well as for Spock.

hey cool finds. You had more luck than I have had for the past hour and a half - those outfits are awesome. Hair is concerning me though. I've been checking out Ann Harding because unless i go a wig I don't really want to cut my hair into a bob for a one off. The hair is definitely an issue for both of us.

oh and thanks Sprint - I love this era. The music especially. have to book us in for some swinging classes prior to the event too. Dont want to be a wall flower on this occassion.

like that fine and dandy link Chew - it makes me think even going for an oscar wilde look won't be out of place either: oscar wilde - Google Search

From the Ball site they have said any flapper dress is to not be higher than the knee - so I'll need to watch out for that - as its a common modern (mis)interpration on the dress.

If this site is accurate I'm going to have get my nails done so that just the centre is painted (not the tips or half moons). What an odd fashion fixation - not keen on the cupid bow lippy either but I'll do it. 1920s Makeup

Oscar Wilde FTW for Spock - get to throw great/subtly abusive quotes at people all night and get smashed on champagne and opiates. Probably give the rent boys a miss though.

Sam did a 1920s get up for a race night the other weeks. She spent ages sorting her hair, rest of the outfit was quite straight forward. Long pearl necklace (hold the comments), black and white dress, fishnets. Hubba hubba. Sadly lacking in pictures though cos I went off out on the lash meself!

It's better to be thought stupid than open your mouth and remove all doubt

Pure speed in sixth gear on a 5,000 foot straightaway is one thing, but pure speed in third gear on a gravel-strewn, downhill, ess turn is quite another.

For a flapper bob, ladies used to pin the longer hair under the bob, so no need for a haircut. Some awesome tutorials on Youtube for 20's hair/makeup
