Still working my way through the Hal Space Jock series.

    He's a Perth writer.

I also have some Terry Pratchett Audio Books to get through.

Go ahead and play the blues if it'll make you happy.

    supposedly yeah.

apparently robert jordan has some rare blood disease and has only been given a few years to live. bit of a bummer, but he reckons he has another 46 books or so he wants to write... so he's optimistic...
    stuff

Eddings is awesome. The Sparhawk series has got to be one of the best ive read. I didnt know that he was working on a new series though.

If you like Eddings, you will more than likely enjoy Raymond E Feist. Magician is probably the most read book in my collection.[/b]
Absolutely agree - Eddings is tops.

Also like Raymond E Feist but you guys should try:
    - Melanie Rawn - Dragon Prince series
    - Trudi Canavan The Black Magician Trilogy
    - Mickey Zucker Reicher - The last of the Renshai
    - Maggie Fury - The Artefacts of Power

I'm currently reading book three in the Trinity series by Fiona McIntosh!

Can you tell I'm a fantasy nut???

Hmm, I just finished reading some Nietzsche *snip*[/b]
    Which book?

Just been reading a bit about him. Would be keen to read some of his work, but not sure where to start.
I've noticed there is a "Complete works" volume in print, figuring I'll start there.

Anyone read any of Tolstoy's philosophical works?

Yeah, I've read the Chronicles of Thomas Covenant.....made a big mistake tho, read them all at once.....fuck, they are a bit depressing all in a lump.....

Liked his Mordants Need series more..... and the Gap series was just excellent

Currently on "the dragon charmer" by jan siegel.

Her "prospero's children" book is good n able to conjure that magical feeling. But the current one has a bit of long-drawn storyline...

Thomas Covenant...um...seems to ring a bell. covenant...covenant...nope. Can't remember where I've read that.

The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant do you mean?

I read the first Chronicles about 18 years ago and only got to the first book of the Second Chronicles. I really enjoyed them and have recently looked for them in my local library. Not there, have to ask for them to be brought in from another library I guess.

    Das da one mate.

I bought the first volume of the Third Chronicles a little while ago but haven't seen the second one yet
I'm glad I'm not the only person to have read them, no one else I know had heard of 'em.

When The Scorpion Stings - The history of the 3rd Cavalry Regiment, Vietnam, 1965-1972 by Paul Anderson

Don't normally read a lot of non-fiction/historical books but this has personal signifigance for me. My Dad did two tours of Vietnam driving in 3 Cav, he doesn't talk about it much so for me Im trying to understand what he went through.

Some of the work they were doing, dad wouldve been 10-20-30m or 25-30secs away from severe injury or death. In fact the very seat he normally sat in got blown up and his replacement killed 30 seconds after he had changed duties and whilst the apc was still in his view. Its thought provoking stuff.

was a great read and was easy to read too

funny book with a heap of candid photos

I have just finished (about 10 min ago) Scar Tissue - Anthony Keidis

I would gladly recommend this book as an honest and open insight to AK's childhood, family, addictions, life, loves and music.

Was really enthralling and showed just how dark a place some ppl can get to, but with a positive attitude and friends you can come through most things.

Master Dubs, your book report is 4 1/2 months late.
