Women better at parking than men - study | Perth Now

WOMEN are better at parking than men, according to new research which contradicts popular belief.
An analysis of drivers across England gave women a score of 13.4 out of 20 compared to 12.3 for men. Parking technique, accuracy and time taken were assessed in the research by a parking garage operator, NCP.

Women are slower than men at parking, taking an average of 21 seconds compared with 16 for men.

But they scored better on finding a space, positioning the car, reversing into spaces and making sure the car was centrally placed once in a space.

The study found men often missed available spaces by driving too quickly through car parks.

Well over a third of women opted to reverse into spaces - the method preferred by instructors - compared with just over a quarter of men.

Men were also happier with the position of their cars once in the space, with only 29 per cent choosing to start repositioning the car.

A majority of women found themselves shuffling forward and backwards to try to obtain a better final position, the study found, resulting in more than half of women parking centrally, compared with only a quarter of men.

Researchers said the study found men also loved to "pose park" when accompanied by a female passenger by opting to squeeze into a small space when a bigger one was available.

The study was conducted by looking at CCTV footage of 453 drivers parking across the country with further research carried out into the views of 2,000 drivers.

The scoring system was designed for NCP by driving instructor Neil Beeson of ITV's Last Chance Driving School documentary.

He said: "I was quite surprised by the results, because in my experience men have always been the best learners and usually performed better in lessons.

"However, it's possible that women have retained the information better. The results also appear to dispel the myth that men have better spatial awareness than women."

Jo Cooper, NCP chief executive said: "Parking is our business, so we carried out the research to see how well people park their cars.

"As an interesting by-product of the research, we've also found out that there is a difference in parking skills between the sexes, although perhaps not in the way that most people expected."
Also some nice troll comments lol

Men wanting to prove something by shoving something big into a smaller space, no.... really? Who'd have thunk it

Fitting into a smaller space just... feels better... and can be more satisfying.

i agree completley with treating women with respect, however i like to retain it as something im doing of my own will.

short story... on the weekend i was with a mate and his missus. she asked if i had a can of coke, so i fished one out of the ice in the esky (no problem there), only to turn around a few seconds later to see her still standing there, hand outstreched, eagerly waiting for me to open it for her too! bullshit!
and before someone defends her, she doesant have nice long nails, she is just a fat ugly lazy mole.

basically ill be nice and treat you well, untill you tell me to. really we are equal, why cant you be nice to me as well?

All this talk of pissing and parking
How much space is in the Medeteranian sea, this wanker still fucked up.

As for chivalry, courage and chivalry . Do they go together I wonder.
I have seen some fairly macho clowns turn to shit when things get a little scary ,
While they might be all blokey and tough , open doors as a gentilman should. There is no courage when things get real serious.

Chivalry - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In his monumental study of Chivalry, The Broad-Stone of Honour, Kenelm Henry Digby offered the following definition: 'Chivalry is only a name for that general spirit or state of mind which disposes men to heroic actions, and keeps them conversant with all that is beautiful and sublime in the intellectual and moral world.'
Arete - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Arete (play /ˈærətiː/; Greek: ἀρετή), in its basic sense, means excellence of any kind. In its earliest appearance in Greek, this notion of excellence was ultimately bound up with the notion of the fulfillment of purpose or function: the act of living up to one's full potential. Arete in ancient Greek culture was courage and strength in the face of adversity and it was to what all people aspired.
the ancient greeks called it arete, excellence in all things society values distancing the behaviour of people from animals also noting that arete is not gender specific. all you have to do is read the news society is devolving, people are becoming more animalistic and less cultured. people dont even have a word in modern english for arete. they confuse having good manners, being a gentleman with chivalry and substitute it, it may be chivalrous but it is not chivalry.
