    CWTK Neighbours tree

Our neighbours (tenants) have some large trees in their backyard. The owner of the property has been asked by me (in writing) to please prune these trees. He doesnt think it is necessary and wonders why I dont like the trees. I love trees and hug them often. (Except those fuckers, Cape Lilacs) One has now partially snapped a branch, which is resting on other branches over our fence and pool. I have sent him an email and I will call the council tomorrow but I would assume it is his responsibility? If it falls in our pool and causes damage I will not be happy. Anyone else had a similar issue?

I live second house from the end of a cul de sac. My neighbour who lives diagonally opposite me at the very end has a vacant block next to her, which has massive trees on it, the closest one being a pepper tree that has overgrown the fence, and has made its way well on to her roof. The owner refuses flat out to move it. The council has requested that he does it, he flat out refused again. Short of getting a front end loader in to clear the lot of them out, she's up shit creek.

City of Canning by the way. If your neighbour obeys they council, they'll have to do something, or they could just tell them to get stuffed.

I would have thought you could prune any parts overhanging the fenceline and dump the prunings on their side.

Not so easy to recoup any costs.

You can cut back any part that extends into your property and deposit in his yard, as it is his property.

You can and I have. This branch has dropped from his side and has also forced other branches down and put pressure on them also. I can not access it from my yard and it is quite high with spikes on the branches. I have offered to help or pitch in financially but to no avail. I would assume if any damage occurs, my insurance company may have an issue with them.

Invite the FHRC team around for another pool party...
We'll get Mal drunk and send him over the fence with a TBall bat (and a GoPro).

I am hoping he asks me to sort it. We will then do just that and invite the Walpole mob as well with their 6' chainsaws and prune it 1mm above ground level.

Would be a shame if "someone" happened to sneak around during the night and cut it down

+1 If it's over your boundary it's fair game

+1 For this, that way they cannot claim they never new about the problem if it does do damage, I would do the same with the council as well

Reminds me of my neighbours tree in the UK that was hanging over my garage roof. I had to have the asphalt roof replaced on the aforementioned garage so I got some tradies in to do the job. This involved heating up the old asphalt to peel it off with a flame gun thingy. It was such a shame they 'accidentally' set fire to Pat's tree with the naked flame. True story!!

So, maybe next doors tree could do with a little accident!! If not fire, poisin the bastard....

5 or 10 litres of sheep dip sent under ground (via a garden hose to the root system ) will stop the problem and they will have no idea what killed it doesn't leave a residue once it's dying he will have to remove it

Do you get on with the tennants? Arrange to go over and trim what needs to be trimmed the owner obviously doesn't give a rats and probably won't notice its been done.

I've had problems with a neighbour and a couple of trees in the past and I treated that issue with antifreeze.

Tenants are O.K. in a Deliverance sort of a way and we have been over to prune the overhang and get on with them. The owner even dropped a smaller sick looking tree recently but the big sucker would be a bastard as it is large with thorns, no cherry picker access, so would need a steeple jack setup. It is a cost thing I am sure. I have offered to chip in and help with labour/funds but he aint interested, but doesnt want it pruned. Here is a pic of it to the right. That is one third its height. An old lady once lived there who kept them well pruned but she died years ago and it became a jungle.

Surprisingly the leaves arent really a problem due to prevailing winds when they drop and I use them for compost. Its just too big and will start shedding more branches.
Dont know the clowns in the photo, they just wandered in for a swim one day. It is Rivervale.

There is a huge Cape lilac right next to it, with caterpillars and a Jacaranda next to that and another Liquid Amber next to the house. The neighbours on the other side cant get insurance on their outhouse laundry due to the trees and them taking out two fences and a shed over the years.

Maybe some hard, pipe hittin' niggas with some chainsaws and a mulching machine are in order?
