DWTK: Do you keep the Box?

So in cleaning out my office and shed, I've found boxes for stuff that must be 15 years old.

When I buy something it makes so much sense to me to stash the box. I think I'll use it if I sell it/have to move etc. But mostly I just have dozens of useless empty boxes taking up space.

So is this trait wide spread? Or is it just my own little slice of OCD?

I used to keep boxes, but now I just throw them out after a month or so. There used to be a clause in Germany, that shops don't have to exchange items if you didn't have the original packaging. So I guess it was just a habbit....

I've kept the boxes for my DSLR camera it's associated gear & lenses. It has a better resale value if it still has the original box AND instructions. Other stuff like computer bits, printers, my new vacuum cleaner etc, etc the boxes go in the recycle bin!

Precisely. If I think there's a chance I'll sell it down the line then I keep the box, receipt, instructions etc. otherwise I chuck it.
Is such a thing even possible?

Keep boxes for a month, if it's smallish I keep it when I think I may upgrade in the future and wish to sell.
Wish I'd kept all my toys and their boxes I'd be raping nerds on ebay.

I am a sucker for packagings; I love bottles, boxes, containers n shite like that..
Did a tidy out a couple months ago and finally threw out a heap of boxes I no longer needed, stuff like computer game boxes and old electronics (still had a 28k modem box, original warcraft box, sony discman box, roller blade box from 1995, various phone boxes; Ericsson GH337, Nokia 5110, Nokia 3210, Nokia 8250, heap of different alcohol bottles).
Only ones I keep now are LED monitor boxes and the one for my laptop.

i keep all small electronic item box's ie Laptop, mobile phones.

but boxes for small appliances and bigger items goes to the kids to play with. its amazing the stuff they can make from a box and the hours of entertainment that could be had with a big Plasma Screen box.

I'll date the outside of the box with the warrenty end date and if it's still around after that, in the recycler. Nice to have when returning broken items. No warrenty, in the bin.

I keep every boxes of any expensive electronic products I purchase. I even kept the box of my 46" lcdtv and it's packing foam incase one day I decide to move and pack the tv. I think I have a borderline hoarder personality. I had boxes of computer hardware which I bought 10yrs ago only recently I had to through them and chucked them out only because my gf moved in with me.
My conclusion you never know when you'll need to reuse the box to repack for reselling, moving or storing. Keep your boxes people.

I keep the box.. (a habit which I got from my father..). It actually works pretty well. I have to move to Melbourne now and I am using those boxes to pack..
