    Question FarkyWTK

So I got thinking today when encountering the worst of Perth's drivers. Lets say you pull up behind or next to a car and notice that the driver is applying make-up, doing their hair, on the phone, talking etc. you get the idea - obviously you want to be as far away from that person as you can. Where is the safest place to be - let us assume a 2 lane road.

    Do you want to be:
    a) Behind
    b) In front
    c) Next to

I realise that the best course of action would be to get the fuck away from them so let us also assume that traffic is moderately heavy.

So PSB - what do you think?

Stay cautiously behind until there's an opening and then sting it around them and get atleast 1 car between you and them.

If there is only one fucktard, then I would stay behind...I reckon, at least I can see the drama unravel and brake. If I'm in front, I am more likely to be a target....

This is my point. There so far have been two different responses. I think I would have to tend to agree with Steph on this one - at least you can brake in time. That being said though ... it is possible you may rear end them should they slam on the brakes (given reaction times and braking distances etc) - obviously this is also dependent on how close you are and weather conditions and so forth. On the other hand, what others have said about staying 1 car in front is also seems feasible until you get to be at the front of a pile up ... unlikely I know but still a possibility.

Basically what lee said, make sure it's safe and get the fuck away from them ASAP in a safe manner, while watching out for more retards, when you get to the next set of lights, keep an eye on your mirrors till there are several stationary vehicles behind you to act as a buffer, giving you some chance of not getting cleaned up, also allows you opportunity to move should something happen. Do not sit directly in middle of the lane either.

You have noticed the driver may inattentive, Keep that fact in your awareness and ride accordingly based on the complete road environment.
Personally if I know I can not be a large distance away, I prefer any drivers that have shown possible danger to be in front of me where I see them.
it is possible you may rear end them should they slam on the brakes
You have seen they may be a danger, you would be the inattentive one if you rear ended someone who you have seen to be a possible danger. Give yourself room, be aware of escape routes down the sides of the vehicle etc, keep an eye in front of them to try to anticipate and so on.
Intelligence and education are three sides of the same coin.

I would say keep your distance and when possible get the fark outta there. But be aware of what else is going on in your surroundings still

This. (key words being "At least" - preferably not in the same block)

    and this

Minimize exposure to getting knocked down vs any driver at all times irrespective of who what race or car or what they are doing
    and this

Don't focus all your attention on this person, there are plenty of other fucktards out there trying to kill you.
Simple rule of thumb = "don't be there".

If you can't disappear into the distance, stay behind, but try not to get stuck there whilst other traffic flows past around you.

However given that probably 70% of perth drivers are doing either 1 or all of the above "unattentive" things mentioned in the OP, they're just like any other driver really...
