Question Got a tent and a hairdressers' car - Where to go?

We've got a couple of weeks off in the new year and wouldn't mind heading north to 'get away' for a bit and relax.

Got a tent, mattress and a hatchback.
So camping will have to be at caravan parks as I can't get to secluded areas and don't have all the camping gear.

    What are our options?
    Where would you go?

    Kalbarri?

In fact many years ago a couple mates and our girlfriends spent a few weeks over summer doing the camping/partying thing...

We spent a fair bit of time at Port Gregory, with trips to Kalbarri and Horrocks...

Then did Cervantes, Jurien and Lancelin on the way back...

    Had a great time...

    *Ahem*

It'll be very warm up this way around that time, but everything is accessible from your girls' car.
Pristine, empty beaches, a fringing coral reef literally at the shoreline (amazing snorkelling) and some beautiful spots to visit and camp.
You could always make Exmouth a "base" and do a few days in Karijini, a few days in Coral bay, a few days on the Ningaloo reef etc (all camping in the national park).
Swing by mine when you need a beer, aircon and a shower.
We are 1350Km away from Perth which is about a 12 ish hour drive, Karijini is about 6 or 7 hours away but the countryside between here and Karijini is some of the most epic I have seen and the actual Karijini national park is something to behold and worth the drive.

If you want to go camping in the middle of summer, head south. Come here when it cools down a bit.

I've also been told Honeymoon Pool is nice down near Collie.

I wouldn't mind doing more camping than I have been so I'll try and check most of these places out.
    Keep 'em coming

Honeymoon pools is nice, the camp sites have a table and chairs and a fire ring with a hook and BBQ plate. Right on the river.

I've been to Kalbarri a few times in January, it can be amazing and beautiful, but I have more memories of it being windy and hot. But most of WA seems to be like that, so nothing new.

If you do think about going south, what about Walpole/Denmark area? Walpole area is beautiful, and the weather will be much friendlier.
Go soothingly on the grease mud, as there lurks the skid demon! Press the brake foot as you roll around the corners, and save the collapse and tie up.
