GWTK - How Long is Long Enough

Please can the good folk of PSB help me out with this Dilemma.

If someone comes over to your house and leaves stuff behind. How long before it is yours to do as you wish.

Feel free to give your own examples and what you did or otherwise to be more specific here is my example:

If you have a Pool or Spa at your place and people leave bathers and towels behind. How long before you claim them as spares or throw them away without the feeling of guilt. In most cases I have no idea who they belong to so I cannot simply return them but do not want to store them either.

    Please help.

2-3 months. And thats only if i know the person that owns the stuff.

If i dont know them then its only 1-2 weeks before its either binned or made its way to the garage.

I had someone leave a bike (and a good motor) in my shed for a few years.
After repeated prodding for him to come and move it, I ended up giving it away to another forum member, just give them fair warning.

Oh alright I'll come get my stuff, sheesh some people just aren't easy to please are they!!!

Seriously though, if it has been a couple of weeks and nobody is asking you if you have found something, then they are'nt really missing it, so off to the Good Sammy's with it, unless of course it's OK for rags in the workshop.

Now if you know who's it is and it is a bigger item, just take it over to their house when you know they will be home

Depends on the value I guess. Trivial shit can be binned sooner but say if someone dumps a new bike at your place, it's a different issue.

I've got 3 boxes of crap from a girl who was moving to Adelaide but came back still sitting here... somewhere over 3 months. Can I keep the nice Silicon cookware and doona with fancy schmancy cover?

Could always be worse mate, could have been some feral dogs.
In life you only get one lap, might as well make it a good one.

IMO it is never yours no matter how long.

However, if they have been put on notice "come get your shit before x date otherwise I'm chucking it or going to do something with it" then when that date comes...it's yours.

If they can't be contacted?.... 12 months I recon. There is something quite defensible about being able to say "dude, u left your shit here for over a year"!

So on the eight day, after wasting time faffing about with unimportant guff like heaven & earth & the waters & sky & creatures [& having a wee kip] & man.... God created PSB (GenesiSX-R1000)

TBH I have had a few people leave stuff here, most of it we have gottem it back to the owner, some stuff even after putting the word out and sending emails with a photo of the item has not been claimed, at that point we usually say that it is going to good sammies or one of our friends can gankit, if they so wish the next time they are over.

I presume that you have let her know that her hear is still there, tell her to come get it within x amount of days, if she doesn't then it's yours, keep the doona and especially the silicone cookware, that shit rocks.

What else is there that could be of some sort of value - CASHIES!!!!
Somehow it's reassuring knowing that I'm not the only one pretending to be normal.

    It's relative to it's value.

Any food or beverage is yours the second they leave. Clothes are a week or two depending on the items. Bikes, parts, bigger shit I'd say a year, give them fair warning and it's yours.

If you really don't want anything for more than a week, giving them notice of such and ample opportunity to collect and you're well within your rights to bin it.
