JWTK: Good places to eat out around Thornlie

    Hi,

As I'm in Perth ATM staying in Thornlie, can anyone recommend good places to eat out around the Thornlie area?

My only criteria is the the food is good and not over-priced, under-sized servings. Also, they need to be flexible in their cooking as I have a garlic allergy.

    Thanks in advance.

Lakers used to b ok, dunno these days, Nicholson's is basic but big servings and ok priced, Last Drop has been ok when Iv'e been there and Willow Pond is pretty good but a bit pricier than the others.

Thanks, pricey is not an issue though reading my original post I should not have put the comma between over-priced and under-sized.

What they've said ^^^ If you want to take your chances Spencer Village food court, there's one or two good ones, the others are usually on the shit list for food and health violations each year.
Words associated with them like 'Adulterated food'.

The Last Drop like Nicholson's do big serves of food.

Nicholson's is real good value for money, $20 meals will feed a small African family.

The Last Drop is pretty damn good these days, plus they brew their own beer. CY O'Connor's bar/restaurant is ok for reasonable meals, awesome desserts and shit service, and I would also recommend The Red Turban on Albany Hwy opposite Super A Mart if you like Indian.

Seriously dude, might as well just run up to Vic Park/Como/S-Perth if you're after a some-what decent feed. Thornlie food does not provide sustenance, it provides large amounts of gastro and diarrhea.

Well I don't live in Perth, so suggest away. I just figured if there are decent places near where I am staying, when I take my host out for a thank you meal it would mean less on the taxi fare and more for dining and drinking.

At least when I'm home in Kal I live close enough to a few places that I can walk and at the most a Taxi will cost me about $15.

Well if you want to go up Vic Park way, I'd highly recommend The Publican, Cafe Bella Rosa, The Balmoral Tavern, Vic Park Tavern...

Spencer Village: The viet store. If you are a chilli breather, try the lemongrass chilli chicken, ask for super duper hot!

Near to Spencer Village, if you google Langford Medical, just next to the clinic lies a small Jap eatery. Nothing fancy, service ok and pretty slow (due to them cooking ala carte) but its pretty good.

Thornlie Square: there is a Chinese dim sum eatery. Cheaper than the city ones but if you cant be fuss going to the city during weekends and queueing, this place is not too bad.

As mentioned by others, Nicholson Bar Grill has got good portions and relatively easy on the price too. In terms of food quality, Last Drop is better though.

For the family eat out on a lazy Sunday morning, Sizzler can be a good option if you are after good spread of salad. But then again, the steaks there are horrible. Tough as rocks! The cheese bread is the deal breaker there =p

The last drop is great, as mentioned. Good beer too.

    Nicholsons is pretty good value.

Yuki in Willetton if you like Japanese.

Lakers wasn't too bad last time I was there, that was over a year ago though...

They are usually on the list ever year so doubt they have done much to fix it up. Still a decent feed...

The bistro (what ever it's called) at the Riverton hotel is pretty good and if you want to go to Willetton try the Burrendah hotel, we walk over and the food is good.

The kebab place at Thornlie Square is good. They do Pide's and fresh Turkish bread too.

Their bread goes well with balsamic vinegar and olive oil.
