KWTN: Is it wrong to randomly add people? (social networks)

Just curious to knows peoples opinion on this..

is it wrong to randomly add people of say fb, google+ etc that you have only meet once?

Example: your out at a nightclub/bar start talking to some random get their name, maybe even get a photo or two with them... then you see said photos of nightclub/bar fb page with them tag ... is it wrong to add that person?

Depends on whether you had a rollicking good time with that person creating the beginnings of a friendship worthy of the add. Meeting a bunch of people and adding the hot chick you spoke 3 words to is probably a little bit Spuddy creepy.

yes it is wrong and a bit creepy/stalkerish, unless you touched them in naughty places or hung out and became bestest of friends that day.

I don't see the harm in making a request if you feel up to it, they don't have to accept it. If your chemistry at the time was alcohol-fueled, then keep that in mind when sizing up your propects now. I get people recognising my PSB avatar on Facebook and making friend requests, and if I don't know them (or recongise their other name), I don't confirm the request. This means that I always have requests outstanding, which means that other requests get accidentally ignored for a while.

To the best of my knowledge there have been no hurt feelings so far. Those who care less about online privacy aren't viewed by me as creepy/stalkerish, and they don't think of me as a snob (or if they do, then they don't know me, so no great loss there).

There are a few people I genuinely trust and respect, people I am very fond of, whom I met and got to know entirely or mostly via PSB, so I no longer discount online friendships. Just don't view it as any kind of investment: pithy cherry-picked status updates don't equate to a whole person.

I think it is fine, as long as you have the intention of talking to them and building on your relationship with them...no point in adding someone just for the sole purpose of stalking them/seeing what they are up to. I think thats when it crosses the line to seedy

Are you suggesting it might also be wrong to add random hot chicks on fb based only on their hotness, that you never even met?

That is perfectly normal. How else are you going to stalk them?

I don't add people I've never met, but I do add them if I have once (usually I have mutual friends). It has much lower potential for rejection than asking for her number yet strangely it gives you far more personal info than their phone number. Facebook is one of the best tools ever for meeting people.
Is such a thing even possible?

I will generally add someone, or accept a friend request from someone if i meet them somewhere and the chances of bumping into them again if i don't add them would be next to nill. This of course would only be for someone that you share an interest with, such as perhaps going for a ride with at some stage, and if you didn't add them you'd forget their name and that would be it, lost opportunity (take ride to mean whatever you'd like )... occasionally i'll go through my list of friends and do a cull, and get rid of people i have no chance of ever talking to again, but generally i keep people on there. not sure if its a 'don't burn your bridges' type thing, but i dunno. i just find the networking idea handy.

With my work i do a fair few courses interstate and am always meeting and working with new people that you share a close connection with for sometimes only a week at a time, but you add them as a friend and then have them as a contact for the next time your in their area again, or they come over to WA. I find it great when I'm interstate and can post a status such as 'who's out in sydney/brisbane/melbourne tonight' and i get responses and have someone to catchup with

Sure beats having to store 935 contacts in your phone

I actually find it more awkward adding people who you know by association, such as my girlfriends mates, and family... I'll usually just let them add me, unless I have a major desire to stalk them.

And yeah, I'll admit to adding a few random hot chicks just for a browse of their pics...

I'll only add someone if I know them, and know them reasonably well & if they de-friend me I block them.

Have tried adding a few random hot chicks, but once they see my profile they block me...

I've been tempted to do that - but so many of my good friends are interstate and its a great way to keep in touch.

I know a guy who makes a game out of finding cute girls his friends are friends with, adding them, and then timing how long it takes to sleep with them. Allegedly, his record is six hours.

Personally, I think that if you had a good connection with them and would talk to them normally if you saw them if you ran into them, then go ahead and add them. Othersie, no, it is creepy.
Go soothingly on the grease mud, as there lurks the skid demon! Press the brake foot as you roll around the corners, and save the collapse and tie up.
