Lightbulb for the ladies - comfy shoes.

    hey gals, need your help.

i want to get my girlfriend a new pair of shoes. she works in a cafe so spends the whole day standing and when she gets home her feet are always wrecked. i tell her every few days to get a decent pair of shoes so she doesn't feel like crap at the end of the day, but she still hasn't after months of me whinging about giving nightly foot rubs. so i've decided i'll get her a paid. except, i'm one of those i've got steel caps, volleys and thongs kinda guys. so don't really know where to start.

what are good brands that i can get easily (and, kinda cheaply. like $120 or less if possible.) around perth?
i dunno, birkinstocks? anyone here spend the day on their feet and have a pair of shoes (that isn't crocs) that they can recommend? if i need to spend more i guess i can, but i work in the arts... we're all broke (the stereotypes are true)

    help me! and thanks!

I can't help with the girls point of view, but these might be decent. All Things Australian - Redback Chef Range | All Things Australian Chef Range You shouldn't have any trouble finding a place to try out their boot range to get a feel for the sizing; being in wide men's sizing may not be helpful though since they are a work boot manufacturer.

The shoes they have in the chemists are usually pretty good, they are made for sore feet and have extra padding etc. they might not be the best looking (though some are pretty good) Go have a look yourself at a few Chemists then take her there to try them on. If she doesn't go for it, she just loves whinging and foot rubs

Oh you could get her one of those foot spas for Xmas

As an aged care worker I had a pair of black Grosby airwear..not the most fashionable footwear, but practical. Slip ons, with a non slip sole. I bought them from good old Big W, I think they were around 30-40 bucks! I also had a pair of black leather tie ups from Williams, they were Portland relaxwalker & cost about $150.

Both styles are flatties..wearing heels when you are on your feet all day are a real no-no!

I used to work in Hospitality as well and I found that the best shoes available were from the Ascent Range from Athletes Foot. They're a black formal shoe on the outside, but inside they're unbelievably comfy! Had them for years as well. A little on the pricey side, upwards of $120, but well worth it! Would definitely recommend!

I had a pair of Grosby as school shoes (kangaroo leather ones) from end of '96 to end of 2000. They were in good nick but I wore through the sole. This was back when they were reasonably expensive and Australian made, if that were still the case I would recommend them without question. Now that they are inexpensive Chinese shoes I'm not so sure, they may still be worth a look if others have had good experiences with them. Unfortunately it's now difficult to find good products, and since most things are made in China price is no real indication as to quality.

Sketchers Shape-ups or the almost as good Target rip off version. They're supposed to tone your muscles while you walk and blah blah but really they just have a huge amount of sole cushioning and are really really comfortable. After 13 hrs in steel caps they are like heaven, and are the only shoe that helps my feet muscles relax. If only they made a bike version!
Plus they add about an inch of height if that matters lol

I like to wear Airflex, Colorado and Homypeds, all of which are very comfortable, but I think what PJ said is right, get her a foot spa treatment and a voucher for the shoes. Shoe styles are a very personal choice.
    They misunderestimated me.

Not really work type shoes, but I find my converse all stars the most comfy. If she can get away with wearing them, I'd buy them

I wear Doc Martens. A bit out of your price range however- they are great shoes though!
I can recommend Grosby and Airflex as well Great shoes and very few that give my comfort with my arthritis. I spend long days on my feet as well and it sucks!
Hope you find her a nice pair and her feet feel better...

I used to wear Airflex and Corelli shoes when I worked out on the floor. Now I still wear Airflex but they are the ugly black lace up type now. Light as though.
I'm torn between nuking the whole thing, and preserving it as an example of the sandiest vagina I've seen in a long while
Me: " some cop would take a photo of you the first chance you go over the limit and no one would let you merge and someone would have thrown a stubbie through your window and chased you the rest of your journey for being in pole position. "
