I'm trying to stay out of this thread as watches are a bit of a weakness of mine. Current count is um, yeah a few too many. Brands in the collection are Marc Echo, Classique, Tokyo Flash, Jag, Seiko, Fossil and a few others. Some very unique and interesting time peices for sure, and the collection is certainly far from finished.

Of all the brands I have, I've found the Fossils to be the best balance between something a little unique and still holding up to every day use.

I agree with Mark and was actually surprised to see a mention for Skagen, but I have a few of these and they are beautiful watches. They don't tend to make the larger/sporty watches, but do make a couple of models that are bold and have a little functionality.

The quality of these watches is quite amazing, and the titanium ones weigh next to nothing (for those who don't like having a heavy watch).

    Couple of pictures below:

This is one of mine, I love the simplicity.

Customer: Look, there's no other way to say this, but I didn't come in here to be insulted.
Bernard: Well, I didn't ask for the job of insulting you. In another life, we could have been brothers. Running a small, quirky taverna in Sicily. Maybe we would have married the local twins instead of wasting each other's time here in this dump. But it was not to be. So hopit.

I don't own a watch. Whatever watch I wear gives me a rash on the underside of my wrist, doesn't matter if its a metal or rubber band.

Do you guys get this? Is there anything that can be done to stop it?
Seeing these beautiful watches in this thread makes me want one.

Twinks: you just need a non-reactive metal, like stainless steel, titanium or gold
In life you only get one lap, might as well make it a good one.

A pic of my favourite watch, doesn't get worn often. Given to me for my 21st by my Mum it was my Grandad's watch (Grandad had died some years earlier). The back plate flips open to show the engraved date of my 21st in 1997 and his confirmation in 1923.

The plate on back shows the engraving of his initials G.R.W.L. nearly a hundred years old, only valued at close to a grand, but so much sentimental value.

Looking at it, it could do with a cleanup.

    Hey CK,

My Dad got it in Denmark, back when they weren't available anywhere abroad. I forget what that one cost, I have a feeling it was between $100-150 USD. The value for money is really quite amazing. My Dad is a bit of a watch collector (buys them and never wears them...), and he has recently got a few of the Titanium ones. Not too expensive, and they look amazing in my opinion, but I've always been a fan of simplistic designs.

My old Seiko (yeeeears ago) caused the same problem, as did a few cheapies from HK.

The cloth band on my watch has a strap which runs under the watch body and keeps it mostly off the skin, plus a decent s/s back on the watch will probably be less reactive too. So no dramas at all this time around.

If you get time to take pics Aphex I'd like to see your collection.

Been scouring ebay quite a bit recently, there's some good deals to be had on used items. I think I'll save some more cash and get a used Breitling Superocean chronometer. I've seen a few going for under $1000.

My day to day watch for the past 25 years is an early 70s Omega Seamaster automatic like this:

If money was not a problem I'd have one of these:

    Buy something that ticks.

I have the normal numbered one, you realy have to wear these almost constantly due to the winding mechanism, the clear cover scratches very easily but can also easily replaced, do mine almost every service interval.

Interesting, if I wear my Seamaster automatic every day it keeps almost perfect time but when I'm on holidays it loses about 3 minutes a month I guess because I'm either not wearing it as often or just lounging around.

I lost it once so retraced my steps in the car. A little too carefully as it turns out because I drove over it. Still working fine but with some bitumen indentations.

I have an omega Seamaster 120m Calypso bought new in 1986, has been restored recently only the sapphire crystal to go and the hands.

Used to have one of these till the old man pinched it off me got it restored and sold it on ebay.

There are two questions in life.
    1:Which way do I go
    2:Whats the lap record.
