KISS

I feel sorry for mum, she lived thru my sister playing their songs over and over, then I caught the bug.

+1 My parents were going through a nasty divorce, and I used to play E.L.O. at full belt to remove me from the shit...

Though how E.L.O. turned into the stuff I listen to now is beyond me

Voodoo Glow Skulls. They used their song "Drunk Tank" on the first Crusty Demons video. Great music, even better live.

The Yardbirds and the Byrds. - both at about the same time.
The Yardbirds, because of the guitar riffs (they had Clapton, Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page at various times, sometimes together), and with the Byrds, it was that twangy 12 string of Jim McGuinn, along with Dave Crosby's superb songs (well, the ones I liked, anyway)
