MWTK: Would you watch an execution?

Random question time.

Let's assume that execution was made legal here, someone has been sentenced to death for something very worthy of it that affected someone you know, (perhaps raping and murdering your child?), they have admitted guilt to the crime, and all legal avenues have been pursued, the only remaining thing is for the execution to be carried out. Purely for the purpose of the question, we will assume that the execution requires the accusing party to watch the death for it to proceed. You have been summoned. Would/could you do it?

This sort of started floating around in my head after Dubs posted the Port Arthur thread, plus a few other random thoughts in my brain. Personally, I still cant decide whether I could watch or not. In the above mentioned example Im sure I would want them to suffer at a minimum, beyond that I cant be definite.

Sociopaths & Psychopaths are sick, malfunctioning human beings. What the hell is making them suffer going to accomplish?

If you want to watch people suffer, (in all seriousness) you probably need help.

Hanging/beheading/chair/lethal injection? Nup. Not unless I was a murder victim's relative and had some pathetic need for closure.

Death by arena? FUCK YES.

There is a massive difference between knowing somone has been sentenced to any sort of punishment, and enjoying the fact it is being carried out. Knowing something is fair and just is one thing, but wanting to have some sort of retrobution in a passive involvement should set off some alarm bells.

Life is such a valuable thing, and for anybody to have life taken away from them is a far bigger thing than some here are acknowledging.

If guilt was proven beyond any doubt, then honestly... yes I would.

And no I'm not a psycho, I've never tortured an animal or anything like that. But I strongly believe that there's the some ppl that don't deserve to exist. I'll go out on the limb a bit further too.. imo their death shouldn't be quick and as humane as possible like modern day executions are. They certainly didn't show the same mercy to their innocent victims. So they should also suffer in the same manner before they are executed.

Another post mentioned they would "like" to do it. Like and enjoy are often used to describe a similar feeling.
