I have a shed that has a small door! I want to put double doors in it, so that when I get my next bike I have somewhere safe to keep it....How hard dya reckon it would be to do? And is there anyone out there that could do it and quote me for it.........Cheers

If it's a brick shed, it won't be very easy.
You might not need a double door. An 870 single door may be enough?

    tinsnips.

    go to it.

who needs hinges? Just peel the thing open.

A little more strength would require a frame, easiest would be C-channel in an upside down U around the area you want. Stratcos maybe. Tinsnips too. A drill, a rivet gun.

Get that in place and square, rivet to the panel. Cut out the flaps and the old frame, build them a new edge just the same, rivet some hinges on and you're done.

It'll be pretty wobbly but it will work. You'll either use your old door as one door and the new one cut to the side, or have the old door in the middle of the new door. Either way.

Did I mention this approach will be pretty rough?

Tinsnips????? pfft, kids tools. Angle grinder FTW.

Are we talking a real shed or just a little garden shed?????

Garden sheds would require a fair bit of work to be strong enough to modify and hang two doors.

    True. What was I thinking?

This is a PERFECT job for an air nibbler. Which means compressor, air cleaners, oilers, lines etc. And if you get that, you might as well get the rattle gun etc.... oh damn another shed required.

I bought myself a falcon nibbler several years ago, sits on your drill and chews through that stuff beautifully.

Give me a couple of weeks to get a free afternoon. If you haven't sorted it by then, PM me and I can come up and have a look.

What kind of door are we talking? Is this a proper shed built with a stud frame or c section, or one of those little ones you buy in a box that you put together?

If it's the former, a decent solid external door will set you back ~$140.

If you want 2 doors, double that, add $20 for having them made as a rebated pair, plus a bit extra for an extra set of hinges, a drop bolt or two, and a rebate kit for the door handle. (alternatively you could maybe use your original door).

Plus the $200 odd for the double jarrah external frame.

Better idea might be to go and measure your bike's bars, see how wide you need the door. Can get standard doors up to 870, blockdoors available to 900mm, and MAYBE special sized doors bigger than that. Then you just need a frame and some tough hinges...

And of course, this all means nothing if you have a shed-in-a-box.

Salvage and General in Kelmscott have got about 50 roller doors in the yard.

Might be easier if the shed is up to it.

you do realise that a Series 1 roller door thats only 2 metres wide is only about 20kg?
