Is it pc to drive over fire hoses?

So the house at the end of the street was on fire or something this morning and as I came around the corner I was faced with a dilema, can you drive over fire hoses?

I was of the belief that they had so much pressure in them and were so touch that you can, so as I sloowed down and gently went over it the Fireman gave me a quizzical yet surprised "fair enough" sort of look. He didnt look angry but he seemed surprised that I would do it.

Also this was the hose that connects to the watermains and truck so it wasnt like they were holding one end or anything, and the fire wasnt currently raging it looked all under control.

What would you do, or what have you done or what is the etiquette in this situation.

I'd probably do what you did, might change when I've done my VFRS training though.
Gutsy question. You're a shark. Sharks are winners, and they don't look back because they have no necks. Necks are for sheep.

Could just go home and wait till the fires out.

Seen a few that when they put hoses across the road they have little ramps on each side to protect the hose. not sure thats a priority with the fire dpt though.

shrug my shoulders and mouth, "My bad" to the fireman whilst still rolling over the hose.

A few years ago when we were getting our pool put in, the pool guys were accessing a hydrant to compress the sand and to put a little weight into the pool so it would sit right, unfortunately one of them also ran over the hose in a truck and the back pressure (i assume) popped the hose off its connection at the hydrant and flooded that particular neighbours lawn.

I could be wrong and fire hoses may be different (and secured properly).

As long as you drive over slowly its ok, when you have a car, bus or truck running over them at speed, it rolls the hose and pulls it out off the stand pipe or the fitting on the truck.

Judging from all the replies, this is a hot topic.
"There's a time when the operation of the machine becomes so odious—makes you so sick at heart—that you can't take part. You can't even passively take part. And you've got to put your bodies upon the gears and upon the wheels, upon the levers, upon all the apparatus, and you've got to make it stop. And you've got to indicate to the people who run it, to the people who own it that unless you're free, the machine will be prevented from working at all"
