PDWTK: What have you done for you lately?

Okay, so I've been here for a while and I've seen the performance of many good deeds. Some are well planned in advance, others answer an unforseen circumstance. I've seen people donate to a project or cause over the long-term and others dropping things at short notice to assist in emergencies.

The only certainty is that if the call for help is genuine, it will be answered.

Many of us serve others throughout our lives, officially and unofficially, paid and unpaid, professionally and personally. But are you forgetting someone? How will you 'help the helper'?

Two of my friends are working on improving their health and fitness, and anyone who's tried it from the unhealthy end of the scale will tell you that isn't easy, particularly when we're talking about the long term solution over the short-term temporary fix. They're not doing it to match a magazine picture or compete with the girls in the office, they're doing it to live longer and more fulfilling lives. I think they can achieve it, because I've seen them give up smoking - another hard but highly worthwhile gift to themselves.

One of my gifts to myself, has been to do what I should have done 20 years ago, and become suitably educated towards a career that excites and sustains me. What thing are you doing lately, or could you be doing, to help/rescue/nurture/nourish yourself?

    My Gift to Me.

Selling up, moving to a secure village, & readying myself for the next stage of this exciting thing called life.

Bought myself a keyboard & hope to fulfill a lifelong desire.

After many months of pain and being lost, I've decided to go back to school next year and have another stab at getting myself a degree. I still don't know if its something worthwhile or just something to fill my time but for now it just feels like something I should be doing.

I don't deserve it, I'm right in the middle of being a self-sabotaging douchebag.

    Welcome to my life dude!
In all seriousness, I've chilled out heaps in the last year, the best thing I've done for myself is take up diving and started to pursue that as a career, so much more fulfilling than an office job and so much more relaxing.

After a couple of years of being a complete idiot to myself, in the last three months I've turned a bit of a corner.
Eating healthier shit. Including supplements, nootropics and a whole host of shit that might just be a placebo, but work better than dexamphetamines.
    Lost a bit of weight.
Cut a couple of poisonous people out of my life that were a bit of a drain.
Started ticking some fairly significant things off the to-do list.

I think any of the above would have contributed to me being a significantly happier person the last couple of months.

Simply trying to avoid continually screwing myself over. I always have been and always will be my own worst enemy.

    Results are mixed.

Deb, I've gone back to uni for something that will assist me in my career in my current field and get me a Masters along the way. I'm taking better care of my health physical and mental. Removing (like Maxo) those people that never do you any good from my life.
Being more assertive, but balanced with more reasonable behaviour towards others. Not getting myself worked up over nothing. Learning to deal with things when they don't go my way; and not bottling it up and feeling like I'm owed an opportunity.

I'm not talking myself out of things I want to achieve either.

    This year I:

Quit my job, started a business with my mates.
    Started my Masters at Uni.
    Bought a Ducati.
    Bought a DSLR.
    Got into the gym.

Feels good improving and chasing what I want, mind you the last three things happened in the last 2-3 months, the rest of the year was really grueling between working during the day and going to uni at night.

Sent off my letter of resignation, looking at buying a +600cc sportsbike, just ordered Closer to the Edge DVD, and brainstorming ideas for an epic motorcycle trip around australia!
