That is actually pretty decent. I usually like to get the best available because it will ultimately last me longer. I do kind of want to get the 13" though as I don't think 11" would be a large enough screen. Do you find it alright?

Yer so far the screen hasn't been a hindrance at all, though I have only had it since late last night. There are a few nice touches with the track pad that allow you to use multiple screens like on a smart phone. You just swipe to the next screen if the page is to big, the function that shows everything you have open at the same time is also handy. If you wanted multiple journal articles up at the same time then you might struggle to fit them both on the same screen. All in all the weeny screen really doesn't feel that weeny.

Keyboard is the same size as a normal one isn't it? Or is it a miniature keyboard?

For the same price? You'll only get an older mac book pro for the same price. I've been using a 13" Macbook Air (new model) for a few months now (at work), all I'd say is don't get the 11" one the keyboard is too small and I kept hitting the trackpad by accident, bloody annoying when typing. Have to say though comparing a windows 7 laptop to Lion, you'll get a lot more excellent software with the mac as opposed to the windows 7 machine, the iLife suit is very good and works together well. I'm not a fan boy, but after being a tech for over 15years I can say I've found a lot less hardware problems with Apple than <insert PC brand name here>. But if you don't need all that built in goodness and great support, take the cheaper option, sounds like you're keen on the asus anyhow.

[UPDATE] No wait you're right Sventek, the 13" macbook pro is $1399 the Air is $1449, all I can say is WHAT THE HELL! the Air is slower, lighter and has an SSD drive. I'd go the pro also, unless looking for pure portability.

I got a new 13" Macbook Pro for roughly the same price as the Air, not an older one.

There are some very good deals on refurbished MacBook Pros from Apple at the moment: Refurbished MacBook Pro - Apple Store (Australia)

    13": 2011 i5 2.3GHz for $1099 and i7 2.7GHz for $1349
    15": 2011 i7 2.0Ghz Quad Core for $1569

They come and go, depending on supply. If you want one and it's not listed then keep checking regularly. And don't hesitate when they are available.
One owner. Only driven gently on Sundays. Sold to best offer. First to see will buy. Reward offered for safe return. Coming soon to a cinema near you. Available for a limited time only.

My waterbed broke this morning. Oh, I don't have a waterbed. Bugger.
