SWTK: Natural Selection or the Cotton Wool Approach?
So... today has been a day filled with incompetent douchebags.. which got me thinking. Should we put up with them? Is society fundamentally fucked now that kids can't fail school and that incompetence is not only tolerated but encouraged?
Personally, I think wrapping people up in cotton wool and encouraging mediocrity is a farce. I say let natural selection take its course, and if the gene pool is better off for it, so much the better.
Discuss people!

The real polluters of the gene pool are more of the "Hey, let's get drunk and stoned, taunt a tiger until it escapes its enclosure and kills our friend, then pretend we didn't do shit and we weren't underage / driving around with open liquor oh ps mr dad of the kid who got eaten we totally bugged the shit out of that nine foot cat until it was enraged enough to scale a twenty foot tall concrete obstacle so it could maul, savage, and bite at your son until he was dead" variety.

Unfortunately, you don't need a license to have children, and that means letting the shallow end of the gene pool reproducing even shallower sprogs.
Kids brought up in a bad house with bad upringing, and going to an overcrowded school with 30+ kids per class is going to give them limitations on learning and eventual career propects.
Being told you're a failure isn't going to do much for the self-esteem, but I hate the way that our culture has the "it's ok, you'll have the dole to fall back on" way of thinking.
In regards to the Camel's post, criminality isn't what it used to be. Let's steal a car, get put in gaol (if we're lucky), play PSP all day, get fed, get a bed, make new friends who have similar hobbies. Oh, and get paid for it to the cost of hundreds of thousands to the hard-working taxpayer.
Unfortunately it's no longer survival of the fittest

go back to the days where you had to do national service.
That would weed out the incompetant.
But a lot of the problems are that 'if johnny doesnt do good in school, it must be the teachers fault so ill sue if he doesnt pass.'
Never mind that little Johnny disrupted the class, never did homework, threatened other kids, etc, etc.
Darwins Theory was foolproof. (pun intended)

The goverment fucked it when they started paying people to have children
$5,000 for 1 child = Home entertainment set
$5,000 for another child = holiday
The people who honestly want children cant have them and the people who dont give a shit are popping them out everywhere

arrgh, the baby bonus.
I don't get it. Those who WANT kids and are mature about it, would save up, buy everything they need and be financially prepared to have a child - therefore not needing the payment.

go for natural selection.
Take the warning labels off things and enact 'common sense' into law.

I agree. I'm sick of seeing ' WARNING: contains nuts' on a packet of fucking PEANUTS And get rid of the suing for stupid shit.
Daise's simple rules for life: watch where you're going ( ), eating fat food will make you fat, drink til you're tipsy, listen to your grandma.
Get rid of the dole so people can learn to support themselves. Goverment dependence from people who are more than able to hold down a job sicken me.

I don't think young people really know how little $5k is, especially when raising a child. Its just a socio-economical problem the government is trying to address, just like it is in the UK. The aging population will retire. They need young people to pay taxes to support the retirees. To get young people, they give a $5k incentive to have children. But when THOSE children reach retiring age, they need MORE children to support them. In the long run its really not doing us any good. The mandatory superannuation is a great idea, just I wish they wouldn't tax you twice for it. (once when you put it in and again when you take it out at retiring age).

We have a "civilisation" which protects and supports the genetically defective and encourages their breeding, whilst sending off the physical "cream" of the species to get killed in wars.
Inverse darwinism at its best.
