Federal Opposition leader Tony Abbott has defended comments he made about homosexuality on 60 minutes, saying gays and lesbians "challenge" the order of things.


Mr Abbott said he felt "threatened" by homosexuality on Sunday night's program, a comment that has angered the gay and lesbian community and something he tried to back track from during an interview on the ABC last night.



"There is no doubt that it (homosexuality) challenges, if you like, orthodox notions of the right order of things" Mr Abbott told Lateline.

Surely, there is no arguing that homosexuality is not the way we were made. Animals are made to reproduce, between a male and a female. Thats got nothing at all to do with allowing people to make their own choice, thats totally fine. But in terms of the way we are physically designed, 'things' are meant to be between a male and female.

I actually like Abbot. He says what he believes. He is a conservative, with some beliefs that these days are considered old fashioned, but he doesnt hide that. What you see is what you get, and i respect that.

But if what you see is an attitude that may, when in a postition of power discriminate against a minority group, and if you are a member of a few minority groups, it may be what you get

he's a narrow minded conservative politician whos talking up "Work choices" again and thats worrying. Oh yeah & he likes to say "bullshit" to a lot things like climate change.
He's made gaffs in the past & expect more in the future.
I dont like K Rudd but hes the lesser of the 2 evils.

some animals can change gender and do other fun stuff. with technological change we may find in the future that we dont need to have sex to procreate and the ability may be determined by other things. YOU NEVER KNOW!

Homosexuality is no more a choice than heterosexuality is.

It seems to me that fear of homosexuals stems from fear of one's own sexuality.
