WTK - Good/Recommended Refrigeration Installation Contractor

    G'Day all,
I've been told from a refrigeration mechanic in Bunbury that the best way to go forward and save BULK $ on getting ducted air-conditioning is to purchase the gear yourself from a factory, still comes with warranty etc, complete with ducting, cabling, units etc and hire an installation contractor to come and put it in.

The units may come in at 3-4k, but the installation will be around 1-1.5k. Much cheaper than what going through a Daiken type place will do it for.

With that in mind, my house is in Perth - has anyone gone an put in A/C this method, or know of reputable refrigeration installation contractors. I'm looking for someone who'll do a decent job - and use the proper gear, i.e. electrical conduit not fken retic for wire housings.

    Any suggestions, companies, names, contacts?

    Cheers - spags.

Did the bloke not tell you that an air con company can get all those parts for half the cost that you can?

Whether they pass those savings to you or not is another story.

    Good luck.

Get the fridgie in Bunno to come and do it for you then. $1-1.5K? Just tell him you will pay him an extra 10% plus travel and accomodation and you can still make a killing.

He has given me cost price for unit, ducting and controller. The mark up is approx 50%r for the units, they kill on the install. It's around 500 travel.cost from buno on to of labour. The ppl down here would cost approx $100 for non abn buyer. He's offered to biy through company for me too. I guess saving 3k by spending $500 sounds good maths to me.
