WWTK - What nakeds to ride

So in the process of new bike hunting again and looking at the nakeds. Yesterday i took the new Tuono V4 and the MV Brutale 920 (would be interested in the 1090RR thought i think) for a spin and was more than pleasantly surprised with the MV and also unfortunately a little let down with the Tuono.

What I want to know is what other nakeds I should be out there trying out also. Added bonus points for finding an awesome twin for me to ride too

So far the test list consists of the following

    Speed Triple
    Streetfighter
    Z1000
R160 (if i can get over east or wait to see what Nath says and compare it against my old Cafe Racer)
    Street Triple
    CB1000R - if i can find a new one
    BMW K1300R
    Dorsoduro
    FZ1
    Diavel??
    Nuda??

Bikes i am not really interested in are

B-king - does nothing for me
    Monster - Same
Superduke - ridden an R before and didnt like it, had nothing on the Morini i used to own
    Moto Guzzi Griso
Buells - Unless they start production again

So what else can you guys come up with that I can test in Perth, otherwise I might have to make a trip to melbourne

    TIA

Men have motorcycles while women have mensutral cycles, you can't talk to either while they are on it. The women's also has a sound, it goes nag-na-nag-nag-nag, biiiiiitch-bitch-biiiiiiiitch!

Keep in mind the Speed Triple R will be down under soon and will probably handle a bit differently to the cooking model. Otherwise you look to have a pretty comprehensive list there.

If my triple gets written off the first thing I'll be doing is bagging a ride on an 848 sf

Too bad it won't look like that out of the box here, wonder what kind of monstrosity will be hovering above the rear wheel.

I doubt it will have the shove you're after, but perhaps a Bandit?

An FZ1 should meet some of your criteria, though again, I suspect it will lack some punch considering what you are used to and how you ride.

If you're considering a streetfighter, then the diavel wouldn't be out of your price range I assume?

    Aprillia Dorsuduro for super-mega-happy-V-Twin-Fun-times.

Those are the ones that spring to mind, but you could also find a crashed sports you like the feel of and fighter it for maximum street cred.

Edit; Oh, a new to you Buell 1125 CR should also fit the bill.

    thanks for that info CK

Also thanks Drasius and Grum for 2 I hadn't thought of in the Dorsoduro and the K1300R. Will also give the FZ1 a run but wasn't really on the initial list but will have to leave the Buell behind. If/when they come back into production they will definitely get a run as I love the lightnings and fire bolts.

As with the RSV4 when i was looking for a sportsbike it unfortunately disappointed me. I was hoping for more of a cross between a v-twin and an IL4 for the engine but its different again. I found the Tuono had nothing under 5k but once over that it went really nicely, the engine sounded amazing though. Gears were quite tall and could probably handle going one down on the front or 2 up on the back to help it out below the 5k mark.

Ergos were comfy the mirrors were quite good, throttle response was decent but the one we were riding was pulling to the right slightly was a little hard to tell about the handling. Over all it felt pretty good but i had only just got off the MV brutale and rode the same little route though scarb and doubleview and the MV felt a lot better to ride.

Most of my riding will be in the country so will probably ask if i can take it for a bit longer and try it out there and see how it goes then

Added the diavel and the Nuda to the list but not really sure about them, the Nuda isn't the prettiest bike i have seen thats for sure and dont know how it would go on longer runs. The Diavel might not have the handling i am after but might take it for a spin in case and see what it is like.

Wind is bad on any naked. Not sure if it will go from shit to shiter or back, I do know that the varying levels of shit are pretty much the same at the end of a long day.

Just ride through it with a smug sense of supriority. Ie being harder than the fairing fairies.

Waikikablukar, I'm pretty in the same boat and currently hunting for the next bike myself.

JCS has confirmed the OTR price for the Speed Triple R with ABS at $22,300. Hell, thats Tuono money!
Considering it is a $4000 jump from the standard to the R with the addition of ABS, I rather get the base model and plunk on some BST wheels. I'm still gonna test it to see if I change my mind though.

The Ducati 848 Streetfighter will be $20,000 OTR at Frasers. Both are expected to have a demo model in early March.
The Duc has a tall seat which may take it off my list. I use my bike to commute so reliability does have me slightly worried. But I've always wanted to own a Duc ever since I laid eyes on a 916.

The Kawasaki Z1000 is almost as good as the Speed Triple in the engine dept and loses out in the outright stopping power, fuel range and dicky dash. It beats it on gearbox, seat height (for me), colour choice (love that candy orange/black 2012 version!!) and price. $4000 separates them if you want ABS which the Z1000 has as standard. With some braided lines, and BST wheels, maybe sprockets for some better fuel range it would be more than a match and comes up to the same price.

I'm very keen to hear your thoughts on the Brutale 920 as far as ergos, seat height, fit and finish, fuelling go. I'll probably organise something when I get back from my holidays.

The fz1 is a gr3at bike but shit in the country I can't ride mine anywhere near as hard as any of my other bikes

The ducati streetfighter us my pick out of the bunch plenty of punch mire aggressive seating reasonably good wind protection and the just look the goods

You may get the wheels with what you save but you certainly wont get the Ohlins or Brembos.

The 848 streetfighter does sound the goods if$20k on the road is the deal. From most of the reviews seems to be more useable in most conditions to its big brother Dark stealth looks shit hot too, not sure bout the yellow.
