YWTK: What was your first motorbike?

Did a search and couldn't find anything..

    What was your first motorbike?
    How old were you?
    Loved it/wanted to burn it?
Wish you could still have it today?

Mine was a '89 cbr250...bought it for 2 grand in 07 when I was 17 as I was a broke ass and couldn't find much else in that price range. Had 60000km on the clock when I bought it and after sorting some initial starting problems it provided me with 25000 care free kilometres over a year..I loved that bike. Kinda still wish I had it today cause you could thrash the shit out of it and have a lot of fun.

    SPADA!!!!

If was commuting and wanted a cheapie I'd buy another in a heartbeat. It was awesome and still my most recommended learner bike. More oomph and a better gearbox than the vtr wth a sportier ride position. Plus they look hot in black with the silver frame and gold wheels.
Gutsy question. You're a shark. Sharks are winners, and they don't look back because they have no necks. Necks are for sheep.

PW 50 - I was about 8-9 at the time - so I had already grown out of it when I got it. Rode it till it died a few years later, did some pretty decent jumps on it too - similar size to medium BMX dirt jumps.

Parents bought me a bright blue 1974 Honda CT 70 for my 10th birthday... used to burn around the backyard on it!
Loved that thing... was semi automatic and oh-so-tiny. Perfect for a 10 yo.

First proper road bike = CBR250R. Pretty much exactly what you said Colin, so much fun to thrash to bits! Am going to miss it when I sell it

CBR125R.... Regretted it (should've got a VTR) but stuck with it and had 12,000 problem free but slow and very upright kilometers, couldn't lean on those bicycle tires!!!

What was your first motorbike? Honda CBF250
    How old were you? 19
Loved it/wanted to burn it? Didn't really feel one way or the other about it. I had my R class in my sights so I accepted it was temporary.
Wish you could still have it today? No, but it would have been good for my GF to learn on. I bought it for $3000, rode it for 8 months, never serviced it and then sold it to a dealership for $3000.

I bought a DT 250 Yam trail bike. I had no idea what i was doing for the first week but had a ball. I remember my mate telling me that it was a 2 stroke so I asked him "what's a two-stroke?" All I knew was that I no longer had to rely on the bus to get around. I got a licence fairly soon after! Things were very simple back then.

First ride was a friends PW50 at age 9-10.

Years later at 15 I borrowed my uncles XR200R to learn how to ride properly. (that I later bought off him and re-licensed as my Uni commuter.)

However was my first purchase was an IT175: which was dead, but brought back to life by re-wiring the magneto by hand. (all 10,000 turns or whatever it was!)

Don't have the time for off-roading any more, but given I broke my back a few years ago, I probably shouldnt be on them anymore anyway.... so not terribly upset I dont have them any more.

Loved it, learned a lot (more than I would have liked)
Wouldn't have it back, I did not feel as safe on it as I did on a gixxer!

Honda CB125, bless it's cotton socks - no 250s those days.

It was fine for it's job, but I certainly don't miss it.

Edit: I was 25 and just following the crowd when most of my dive club got into bikes.

First roadbike was a 1978 Ducati 900SS Hailwood Replica. Bought it second hand (obviously) in Dec 1986 on my first leave for 6 grand. I was 18.

First actual bike was an olde 70's Yamaha 175 traily.

Vmoto 50cc scooter bought for pocket change off a mate at age 23.
Bought it to buzz around on as the commodore was really fucking expensive to run. Got the two wheeled buzz pretty quickly and soon got my license. First non step through was an 84 GSX250. I had a blast on it.

Loved it initially but grew tired of the power, suspension and tyres.
    I don't wish I still had it, I didn't hate it but I don't miss it.
Is such a thing even possible?
