YWTK: Who answers their phone while driving?
Inspired by the latest limiter-bashing discussions.
Let me start by saying I personally think that hands free kits are a crock of wank. It's the act of concentrating on a discussion with someone on the phone that causes the inattentiveness when driving in my opinion, not the fact you are unable to use one hand when using the phone having a profound impact on your ability to drive.
Hell who drives along with both hands on the wheel all the time?
So i'll say yes, I will answer my mobile when driving BUT I am aware of the illegality of it plus the effect it has on my concentration, so generally I'll only answer it if say I'm meant to be meeting someone at a certain time and they're calling me, then the conversation will be something like "Hi, i'll be there in X, can't talk i'm driving." I will not have an idle conversation.
I view this as a hell of a lot safer than some barbie doll concentrating on the latest gossip about who shagged who using a hands free kit, when they are clearly not focused on driving.

Dont have a Hands-Free but I just use the loud speaker option on my phone. I keep calls as short as possible.

Yeah, I am an above average driver, I can cope with answering my phone, keeping an eye out for other road users AND piloting a vehicle all at the same time.

I assume by your use of the term 'barbie doll' you mean to stereotype that it's mainly females who lack the skillz to chat and drive?
*Insert jokes about chicks just plain not having the skillz to drive, let alone chat AND drive*
Now we've moved past that, yea I have a hands free, yea I chat to a couple of mates on my way home during peak hour sometimes. Nah, I've never crashed into anybody during my gossip-riddled commute.

I turn off my mobile when I get into a car ( unless I am a passenger ), there is nothing so important that it can't wait until I get to where I am going.
I come from a time when there were no mobile phones, and if people could not reach you they had the patience to wait until they could do so.
Yeh I know, times have changed but the impatient attitude these days has spread to all aspects of our lives-especially driving.

Not at all. I was referring specifically to the airheaded bimbo girls who are the worst offenders. Most females I see on the phone fall into this stereotype (either that or they're business executives on their way to a meeting wearing a skimpy top and driving a car with "this bitch bites" stickers).
I see more men driving dangerously while on the phone in general, lost count of the number of "I'm so fucking important" dickheads in suits running red lights while on the phone.

Answer phone. Read and reply to SMSs. Drink. Eat. Take notes from phone call. Play with GPS on phone. Yep.
If you're going to bounce the limiter next to me, make sure you have somewhere to go when 20 tonnes of troopeh suddenly occupies the spot where your bike is/was.
Are you a cop? No? Then fuck off and mind your own business.
