are you cutting and pasting??? If so you need to go to the AA symbol top left (in the edit mode) and take out the coding, then it will apear 'normal'

Ha ha ha, I like the red.

Personally, I'd just leave it white so it works on all the forum skins, but the red works on the black BG for me so all good.
