hey cat monkey i understand where your coming from, i just got my learners but my folks aren't too keen on the idea as dad lost his youngest son ( my half-brother ) who was only 35 on a motorcycle accident July last year. i think Gordan may just be looking out for your safety but i think if its what you want then dont let anybody stop you hope you go for it and i hope i do too oh and welcome to psb

that's what most of it is.. Fear of the what if.

That's why I don't want to go ahead without his blessing. My theory is if I get some lessons and he teaches me I can't go wrong.

thanks yeah thats true i look at it as like if he had died in a car accident would they have stopped me getting my license (just got it ) but yeah its just that what if part...

but i think by the time i have enough money to buy a bike they will be more understanding anyway

Being taught good defensive riding techniques will certainly reduce the chances of you having an accident, but it is still a very real possibility.

Don't go into this expecting to never fall off. I'm not trying to dissuade you either, just making sure you to know what you're getting into.

Oh don't get me wrong I know the dangers.

What I meant is, he will be at more ease in his mind, if that is possible. Knowing I have had the best training possible.

Oh ok, I get what you mean. Take some lessons and see how you feel. Some people don't like it as much as they think they will.
