Should have done this yesterday, but anyway...

I am located down in the SW.
I haven't had a bike for a few years due to a couple of different factors, but am just starting to have a look around again at the bike world to see what's out there at the moment.
I've got idea's of doing a round Australia trip by bike in a couple of years time to coincide with when long-service comes due. It's a trip I had ideas of doing six odd years ago when I last had a bike, and I guess the dream just never disappeared completely.
I'm not in any mad rush to buy a bike. Happy to check out the market, a few forums and just ease back into the bike world at the moment.
I guess this is step 1 of the process!

After a brief browse looks like this might be a good place to start. Spotted a couple of round Oz threads to check out.

Been in Busso about 7 years since moving to the coast from Manjimup.
As far as bikes go, and with the idea of touring, probably leaning toward a late 90's ZZR1100.
Having said that I've always liked the early 80's 1100 Katanas. Had one of the 750 pop-up Katana's for a few years and that was a good bike.
As stated earlier tho, I'm not looking to get onto a bike straight away and there are a few good sport/tourers to look at. More than happy to hear anyones suggestions or experiences as regarding long distance touring.

think you'll be wanting something big, comfortable, long range and plenty of carrying ability, bmw is a strong contender..I used to intensely dislike them but now would like one..is that age or a better look/range/style/image by them?? Please say the latter..
