My names Ben im new to this site and the whole forum concept really so any tips would be great. Whilst i do have a bike its barely worth a mention as its the same bike ive had since i did my 250 license nearly 10 years ago. Its an 86 RZ Yamaha which never ran right but as a young punk with a fresh license it was plenty and i didnt know any better. Anyway after about 2 years of abuse it finally refused to start one morning, then my little brother commenced to 'help me out' by pulling out the engine and ripping it to bits. am currently in the process of convincing a mechanic mate to rebuild the engine as ive heard they arent terribly hard but i would never attempt it on my own. i actually got a few quotes back when it first stopped and they were roughly twice what i paid for the bike so obviously that wasnt an option. And there its laid.
Recently ive started earning some decent coin so will hopefully be in the market for a nice litre bike soon. Maybe someone can point me in the right direction as i love the mid 90's SS Ducatis, before they changed shape, as well as the Suzuki TLR 1000, or possibly New Speed Triple . I definately like the V-twin growl plus me mums Italian so i would like to fly the flag for family history, in getting a Ducati however high maintenance costs, plus buying a lemon worries me. Then theres the Harley Sportster attraction also. Cruising would be cool.
Any feedback from experiences with any of these bikes would be appreciated
Anyway PSB seems like a cool site and am stoked to be involved, now just need a decent bike.
