Hi,
This may seem to be a strange way to say hi, but this morning something happened that made me think that some of us are really not part of the motorcycle community and should be banned from having a bike!
I see I am making friends already, haha...let me explain.
Riding to work this morning down Roberts Road in Subiaco this morning heading towards and turning right onto Thomas Street about 8.15am. In front of me are two chicks on a bike (maybe the rider was a guy, I couldnt tell), I think it was an older black yamaha, chick on the back was quite large and black curly hair, black and grey Shoei lid, white shoes...geez you think I would have noticed the bike, but anyway...
So they are in the left lane doing 50 ish, no issue with that I pass in the right lane and split to the front of the lane turning right, there is a bike already there so I sit back a half meter or so...next thing this stupid rider tries to squeeze between me and the front bike to push in front of me, s/he stalled the bike, I had a good laugh and the pillion heard me call them stupid. Next thing lights turn green and the bike starts off slow as possible and then swings in front of me to turn down Murray Street. Trying to teach me a lesson - yes you on big bike me will not pass you master!!
Now all of this isnt very nice I must say, I am used to being friendly to others on two wheels. Why did this happen? I know why as I see it almost every day, but never this bad or nasty.
Before I say the reason, my history of bikes is 29 years riding (started when I was 8), used to race MX, have owned (not just ridden), kr250 (tank slapping out of the diveway - great fun) CBR600, zx-6r, CBR954rr, various 2 stroke race bikes, a few YZ's one RM250..I could go on, over 17 bikes all up over the years.
But what do I ride today, a 125cc scooter! Yea I know, but family commitments it was either that or a car, I would rather two wheels than 4 any day.
Point is why do some bikers assume that your experience is linke to the size of bike you ride, we should all know better than that, but some just assume small bike means learner or kid. I commute daily and have put 25,000km's on this little scooter for the same cost as it would have cost me just to insure my old 954, no its not the same, I will get a real bike again when I can afford it, but in the mean time I really think that we should all respect anyone on two wheels no matter the size of bike they are on, we are all part of the same community.
So to those two idiots this morning, think about what you are doing.
To everyone else, ok I will shut up nowThanks.
