just got my first bike to learn on. 89 zx-2r... oh g'day

Hey peeps, finally picked up my bike today. Taking lessons now, however dirt biked when I was a kid, so it shouldn't be too hard.


It's a mint 1989 ZX-2R, full service history @ 55,000kms.




excuse the shitty pics at night, will take some day shot ones tomorrow!

but yea, new to bikes and have been lightly browsing stuff on the net about them only. Any pointers to things that generally need attention, and also was thinking over to changing to LED bulbs and possibly a HID kit up front? I feel that the incandescent globes aren't bright enough even at night!

Cheers fellas. As for LED's i was talking about LED bulbs within the stock housings. Im just worried that the current ones arent bright enough for the people out there that cant see me.

Hit my first problem today.... Battery is flat! Im assuming its because the fan is hardwired to be running when the bike is on.(not started).

I think ill go buy a new battery anyway, any recommendations on where and type? was gonna go something more powerful to cope with the fan being on all the time.?

Hi mate! welcome to the site - I had one of these for the majority of my 250 license (same year too) they go pretty well for a 250 - managed to make mine keep up with a few bigger bikes around the track too.

Dont bother with the upgrades, it's just a waste on a 250 - keep the money for the big bike. If you do want to spend money on it - brake pads and tyres - the two best mods for them.
