    love rides

After a bout of RSI & too much excess weight, I set out to lose weight & decided to give the Yamaha Tenere away (well sold it), to force me to walk or ride the pushbike instead. I did lose some weight but missed the bike too much so have decided to get myself a Suzuki wee Strom, picking it up next weekend.

I've never had anything other than the steering lock on any of my other bikes before but when ringing around for insurance quotes, they all seem to ask if the bike has, alarm, imobiliser, data dot or other security. I'm interested in the views of others as to whether this is necessary & which you think most effective.

    Hi and welcome aboard.

Most of the new bikes these days have imobilisers fitted (some of the Yammies have Data dot sprayed all over the engine, our FZ1S has it), some people put alarms on their bikes, always best if your bike is garaged though

Ours are garaged, but also all have chains and padlocks

Hey, welcome. Its a much of muchness really. As long as it has an immobiliser and a lockable garage you'll be sorted for insurance. In reality, a chain wont go astray either. I go as far as putting my bike keys in a safe.
