    New bike

    Hi guy's,

I've been riding an auto 250 for the last 2 yrs but am currently going through the motions of getting my R class bike licence. I am thinking of getting a 500cc - 650cc bike when I get the class R.

I was hoping that you guys out there would have some recommendations on what to look for. I'm thinking along the lines of a road bike that is going to be comfortable for the commute but have enough about it to have me grinning at the weekends.

    Thanks in advance

    Dan

When u get ur open class go test ride a bunch of different bikes from the dealers or even private sellers and then decide.

I personally find nakeds and commuters no more comfortable than full-on sports bikes.

Ducati Monsters jump to mind for your needs, but bare in mind the extra servicing costs if thats an issue.

are you looking for new or used?

if you were happy enough on a scooter for 2 years and want new and cheap suzuki have a couple of winners around $8000 rideaway the GS500 and the SV650 both come in faired or naked versions, the GS500 will give you the grin you're after the SV650 should be enough to make you giggle.

used? well the world is your oyster, test ride them all until you find something in your price range.
Do you remember the good old days before the internet?

when arguments were only entered into by the physically or intellectually able.

    Welcome...

    As Filbert said...

There are quite a few 600cc naked commuter style bikes that will leave you grinning...

Yamaha FZ6 is another worth looking at...

    Enjoy...

Thanks guys, the price of the gs 500 is about the budget so I guess I need to decide on whether buying new or second hand is going to be best to get started. There seems to be quite a few CBR's for this price second hand.

    Dear Dan.
Grasp the paper with one hand and pull gently down.
Keep your other hand on the top ready.
You want at least 8-10 squares.
Apply pressure to top of roll with the flat of your hand, and simultaneously gently pull top square in a slightly angled motion until your squares are free.
At this point you must decide if you are a scruncher or a folder...

I heard that about the FZ6. They have some very good reviews. Does anyone here have one?

What year is your GS500 Jezzabelle, have you had it a while and does it still make you grin?

I have to agree, you are the one who can pretty much sum up whatever findings you would have with them and you just have to try it out on your own.

I had a 4 stroke small bike before and though that was mainly to get things together and practice riding on 2 wheels, that proved to be quite a hard track for me to go with. I ended up with my first 500 Yamaha.
