Hi all, another ex biker getting back in the saddle after years without a ride. Arrived in Australia in Sept 07 and have been promissing myself a bike since then. House build had to come first and then convincing the wife that there was enough cash left in the pot and that the time was right.
With a big smile on my faceI found my Bike (2005 ZZR250) and laid down the cash on the 14th March rode the bike back from Rockingham loving it all the way. Spent hours in the late evening polishing and cleaning, and after work and weekends enjoying the roads of the southwest. Then last weekend 4th April disaster.... out for a ride in the sunshine and old boy didnt see me...BANG pulled out from the local shops and gave me no chance. 27 years motoring and not even a speeding ticket (boring) no accidents, not even a parking fine then this..on my new bike.
No broken bones but plenty of bruises actually managed to stay on the bike as front end buried in side of his car. 3 weeks only, 21 days. Bike is with insurance assessor at the moment, not looking too good. I think from what they told me today that they will write it off as all the plastics are damaged, forks are a gonner and who knows what else they will find, if they look.
Anyway, I will be back on the road asap, either all fixed up or i will have to look for another ZZR (just love the look and feel of it)
There are a great bunch of bikers down here in the SW and I was just realy starting to enjoy my return to the wonderful world of two wheels.
My Wife and kids though that my longing to get back onto 2 wheels was part of my mid life crisis. however there has been a big change in me that has been seen by all around, I would come in from work with a smile on my face, pop out to the garage, get the riding gear on go for a little ride and come home smiling and buzzing, I feel like a teenager again, but this time round I don' t feel the urge to ride with the throttle wound back and my knees scraping the ground around every corner.
any way there's my short story as a bit of an intro
Looking forward to meeting you all on the road somewhere, someday, soon I hope...come on Mr Assessor get your cheque book out!
