Opinions Welcomed! Got some advice to share?

    Hello All!

My name is Will and I'm pleased to say I recently earned my 250cc license!

I'm keen to get right into it and buy myself a bike.
I've been hitting the search button hard (I’m also a long time member of the Perth wrx forum) and have found some really helpful posts on buying your first bike. Thanks to those who have put in a fair bit of effort with their previous posts!

I’m gonna head out next week and test ride a few bikes at some dealers to get a good feel for them.

I’m looking to spend around $4000-$5000

    I’m seriously looking at in order;

    1) Honda CBF 07/08 - I’ve heard they sound great! And I am a Honda fan
    2) 125cc 2 stroke Aprilia or something similar. They look like good value. A smaller bike but I’m told faster. You just have to ride them a bit harder. And I’d like to own something a little special and different and be able to flog my mates 250cc’s off the line (carefully)
    3) And finally maybe a Hyosung (road bike or naked bike thing).... but I’m hesitant. Nice and cheap, but I’m normally a buy once buy right kinda guy. Still it’s hard to cross them off the list cos I keep finding 08/09 models with buugger all km's around the $4k mark...

I'm interested in peoples opinions. So feel free to reply with your own personal experience. Bike riding/servicing/fixing

Would you buy a 2 stroke as your first bike? Or do you think it will it be too expensive for service parts etc?

Would you buy a Hyosung if it was your money? I'll only have her for a year or so then piss it off for a bigger bike. Or would you pay the extra $1000 for the Honda? I’m told you should be able to get your money back fairly easily on a 250cc

Advice and comments Welcome for those board at work or with time to burn!
    Cheers,
    Will

A 2 stroke 125 will not flog another 250 (unless its pretty shit) off the line.

Get a vtr over a cbf.

I got some advice for you Will...

Buy a bike already so we can go riding!!! haha
But seriosuly, listen to these seasoned veterans, they will point you in the right direction.

Then hurry up and buy one ASAP so i dont have to ride next to your brothers bike alone, when he rev's it at the lights and embarrass's me.

    Mason.

Try locally first. Coming into winter there may be a few. Im looking at the 5k max for a VTR in very good nic with about the 15-10,000km's on it.

I sold by 2003 VTR250 about 4years ago with 30,000k's and got $4k for it.

Why on earth would you want to buy a 250 from Interstate????? Not a good idea, especially when there are so many bikes for sale atm, a search on Kawasaki in the 4 sale section will give you nearly 2 pages worth of mint Ninja's wanting new homes, throw in a couple of Hyo's and VTR's, why would you need to go elsewhere?
