so it would seem that for the bike i've chosen, all the experts are here in this forum, so i joined up! thanks for having me!!
had to sell my '75 CB550K late last year, and have been looking for more of an "around town" bike ever since. something smaller (so i can bring her inside when its cold), and simpler to work on (i can get two carbs in relative sync, but 4? strange alchemy there, and my deepest respect to those of you who can do it!). something i can teach the ladyfriend to ride, as she's keen to learn...
initially, i was looking into an XS250 (with mounting horror after every new thing i read), until this beaut' little SR came my way. moped-simple engine, fits perfectly through the kitchen door into the utility room...and only $500 USD!!
now, of course she has one or two things to address. smallish hole near the end of the header being the "big one" (if cutting just behind the hole, then reattatching the muffler is "big"), and other than that the 2-piece seat is a bit dodgy (and uncomfy to my...er...."manhood"), thats pretty much it! oh...missing the battery side-cover, which so far is about the only part i can't find for her...
about that seat...i'm wondering if anyone can tell me whether a seat from either the SR185 or the XS400 would bolt right up? i'm watching one of each on fleabay (same model year as mine), but i wanna be sure before i pull the trigger. i seem to recall that these bikes all shared the same frame, but i can't remember for sure where...
anyway...look for my many adventures on "Valentina" coming soon, as well as a glut of piccies (i'm something of a shutterbug). for now, here's a snap from the sales ad i found her in...
again, thanks for having me!
