    Ugly American, sunny disposition

so it would seem that for the bike i've chosen, all the experts are here in this forum, so i joined up! thanks for having me!!

had to sell my '75 CB550K late last year, and have been looking for more of an "around town" bike ever since. something smaller (so i can bring her inside when its cold), and simpler to work on (i can get two carbs in relative sync, but 4? strange alchemy there, and my deepest respect to those of you who can do it!). something i can teach the ladyfriend to ride, as she's keen to learn...
initially, i was looking into an XS250 (with mounting horror after every new thing i read), until this beaut' little SR came my way. moped-simple engine, fits perfectly through the kitchen door into the utility room...and only $500 USD!!
now, of course she has one or two things to address. smallish hole near the end of the header being the "big one" (if cutting just behind the hole, then reattatching the muffler is "big"), and other than that the 2-piece seat is a bit dodgy (and uncomfy to my...er...."manhood"), thats pretty much it! oh...missing the battery side-cover, which so far is about the only part i can't find for her...

about that seat...i'm wondering if anyone can tell me whether a seat from either the SR185 or the XS400 would bolt right up? i'm watching one of each on fleabay (same model year as mine), but i wanna be sure before i pull the trigger. i seem to recall that these bikes all shared the same frame, but i can't remember for sure where...

anyway...look for my many adventures on "Valentina" coming soon, as well as a glut of piccies (i'm something of a shutterbug). for now, here's a snap from the sales ad i found her in...

    again, thanks for having me!
    i think, therefore i'm rare.

Hi there, interesting intro, like the sunny disposition. You are a long way from Perth so I guess I wont see you cruising these streets. Hope you have some nice roads over there to navigate and your lady friend enjoys learning to ride.

haha, yes...that is definitely one of the odder looking seats i've ever laid eyes on...fortunately, its going away soon as i find a decent stepper!

yes...indiana USA is from where i rule, though not for long. i'm moving home to detroit. how f!?#ed up must a place be that one would rather move home....do DETROIT?!?!?

nice bike roads around here though. that i'll miss.

sadly, it will be quite some time before you see me tooling around perth...but its always been a dream of mine to visit, and i'd naturally be bringing a bike to get around on! until then, you'll have plenty of pics and vids...
plus, are any of us really all that far from one another, in this internet age?

Ugly with a sunny disposition... I always felt that PSB would lead me to my soul-mate...

If you don't get your seat-issues addressed here, start a thread in the General Bike Talk section with the model in the title, a lot of bike enthusiasts who read the GBT section don't read the Welcome thread. Happy hunting, Dario!
Close your eyes and open your mind, as you become aware of your breathing slowing down... feel the deepest presence in every contraction and expansion as the invigorgating and calming oxygen floats you into a cloud of love and acceptance... As you relax, you will begin to feel the insight of your own existence... You are now at peace... You now agree with all of the opinions in this post... You cannot imagine why you ever felt otherwise.

would be a dream come true! honestly, i've a feeling if i ever came to visit, i wouldn't be able to leave. like rockatansky before me, i'd just wander into the (anything but a) wasteland, never to return!

though i'd probably want something bigger than a two-fiddy yammy for that, wouldn't i...

    D-desade,

You will want to stay. When you are getting ready to go to Oz, save yourself some trouble and clear up your business at home so you don't have to go back.

The WA boys have it good. Picture California with only LA and a few other small towns. And 36 million less people.

    Uni,

That's quality of life. Our 24-7, shop til you drop, economy is pointless. They even put advertisements in the men's room urinals.
