1098 owners pillioning
just curious on if any of the 1098 owners have taken pillions on there bike and how uncomfortable it was for them as i maybe putting the spare seat and pegs on mine in a month or 2
if its really bad for the pillion i wont bother i just buy another bike so i can take them pillioning instead
the pillion is quite small to say about 5 foot and about 45 kilos

Give it a try with the standard seats and footpegs. It really depends on how many times you're going to be having a pillion on board as to whether you use the 1098 or get another bike specifically for that purpose. The main thing might be lack of room between pillion footpegs and the pillion seat which could be addressed with some adaptors to drop the pegs by a couple of inches. Would aid the pillion in hopping on and off too. I think the 1098 pillion pegs bolt up like radial calipers (trick!) so some longer bolts (hi tensile) and spacer sleeves would do it.
I'm looking at this too as my wife wants to come with me on my 999R, so I will have to buy a biposto assembly. She's around 5ft and 45 kilos and would just about need a step ladder to hop onto a pillion seat a 999 bip. So I think I'll have to do something with the pillion pegs to get bit more room and get them closer to the ground to assist in her hopping on and off!

An easy solution for a short pillion to climb on a bike, is to use the riders footpeg to get on the back. Little trick that helped a few of my pillion pilots....

Been on the back of Justins twice and i know im small but FAR out that is the most uncomfortable thing I have ever pillioned on!!!
Hardly any seat and feels like your legs are actually wrapped under the tail of the bike...
Nice bike, but def not built for pillioning...

Grant...you want my missus to "test" it out for you? Dimensions/specs quoted are her to a tee.

Have had my missus on mine once and that was enough for both of us.
She thought it the most uncomfortable thing she'd been on , while you will get your goolies crushed as well !
When she's coming on a ride i take the other one.
Oh and she isn't particularly large either.

Had 3 girls on mine and they said it was surprisingly good.
No complaints. Might be that you're not riding 'for the pillion'?

You could be right Rihno , i much prefer the 1098 without a pillion.
I've had the wife on the back of all sorts of bikes over the years and she's never found any that uncomfortable and she's great on the back , don't know she's there most of the time.
Also maybe age might have something to do with it (dont tell her i said that) neither of us are getting any younger .
