848 / 1098 radiator
Hi Troops,
Was curious to know if anyone has had problems with radiator faults ( leaks ) on the 848/1098 ?
My 848 has developed a minor weep on the LH tank.
Any clues as to who would be the best for a repair job in Perth ?

It's a common problem with all of that series. Mine & many others was top LH side too.
Can't recommend any repairers, but sometimes repairs work other times you need to replace the whole radiator.

As FM says, it's a known problem with 848s - I'd give the dealer a go to see if they'll replace it for free, given it's common among 848s. Worth a try, anyway.

btw, the 1098 series battery hangs off the radiator hose which is connected to the top LH side of the radiator.
Anyone else notice Ducati started recommending a smaller capacity battery (as well as physcially smaller), after the radiator issues started happening?

Hmm - I put a new battery in my 1098 on the weekend (Motobatt) roughly the same size & a tight fit into the battery holder. I think it's actually the clamp that holds the battery in place, that clips onto the rad hose. I'm not sure that putting a smaller battery in there would help, as the clamp will still be hanging off the hose.

Hoddo, I had the same problem develop on mine about 2 months ago. Crack in the top left corner I think. Took it up to frasers, apparently some earlier 848's had weak top mounts or something, the later ones were built stronger. They never told me what type was on mine but it was replaced under warranty. If your warranty has expired it might be worth taking the radiator in there anyway, it's not a recall but a known design flaw, so you may be able to get a free/discounted one. There was a thread on here or Ducati.ms with a link to expected service life of various parts (ie. a radiator should hast more than a year and a half).

Had the exact same problem as MMiikkee, The dealer sent me away the first time saying they didnt believe it was a manufacturing issue but went back again after a repair failed , had a bit of a tussle but in the end to their credit they replaced it. The bike was not 2 years old yet.

Thanks People,
That's a great help knowing there's been others, I'll start making a few calls and see about getting it fixed / replaced.
Thought I'd check with others on here. I previously had a 1098 for about 18 months and it never gave any problems, this 848 has now done app 2300 Klm.
