good choice, the smaller capacity dukes just dont have the same short shift low rpm WOT TONK of the full bores.

More than an 848 or 999S that's for sure! But I'm not too worried as it's a beast and is rare as.
I used to not really like the skinny swingarm so much but I don't even notice it on this. The red seems a bit darker (from the CF probably), the fairings are CF and the "stickers" saying Ducati and 999R are really masked-off and it's the CF that's the black bits. Along the edges is masked off, the rear section is CF, the headlight bucket is magnesium, mirror supports are carbon, wheels are forged Marchesinis. I'm thinking of getting a later box section swingarm (straight bolt in) so it looks more like the bike which Hodgson and Xaus were doing the 203 pre-season testing on.
Probably the only thing it needs is a big exhaust and to dice that rear light and plate assembly some how. I have to change the belts straight away as they're the originals. Do all the fluids too.

Very nice Rod,
Some people say the front end is ugly but I love it especially the 05 and 06 ones with the air ducts removed.

welcome to the "R" clan Rod. change the swingarm tho. bet ya haven't got the big tank! red over c/f is sweet. make sure you wear leather gloves when you remove the fairing. it cuts my fingers every time i don't. find yourself a good multi-tool kit coz the original is useless and where they put it worse still. i have got a kit that i jam down the front left of the headlight binnacle in front of the left hand fairing support stub. thicker seat pad is also good value.
hasn't got the red frame, i just noticed..........
happy hunting

definitely more comfy. depends on your priorities and the price you can get one for i suppose. strangely enough i actually like the earlier slotted fairings better (maybe it's the carbon fibre that does it).
oh Rod, if the steering is not already set on steep, do it. you'll love it around the tight stuff. i wouldn't use my 748 on steep for the road but the 749 is fabulous even on WA goat tracks.

I'll give that steep angle a try. The tyres are a bit old so I will probably get some newies - a 180 on the back maybe. I think it has 5.5" wide rear wheel.
I preferred the two slot front fairing but the four slot older version does look pretty good. However the four slots is probably the best looking out of the lot when its made of carbon fibre and they don't paint the inside of the vents red

Yay bike turned up today!
And with a pile of damage thanks to the transporting company! Some nice gouges in the side fairings on the leading edge behind the front wheel.
