Let you know if I get or have another crank breather, sort you out with one.

Ducati 900ss termignoni exhaust - eBay Exhausts, Performance Tuning, Accessories, Motorcycle Parts Accessories, Vehicle Parts Accessories. (end time 22-Aug-09 04:20:33 AEST)

Ooh, paid this morning, exchange rate had the price up to $540 AUD plus delivery another $142 AUD - $682 TOTAL to the door.

Ebay exchange rate and Paypal exchange rate live in two different worlds...
    cheers on the breather jules!

they dont have probs with the reg or starter, they are just handy to have "in stock" if you ever need either,no 3 month wait time
Oopsie, I stood a little to close to the general public last night, and now my clothes smell of cigarettes, vodka and shame.

    Is this bike a 900 Superlight (white frame) a 900 Supersport or a 900SS?
What ever the difference might be.

White frames were the earlier models, '92 '93 from memory. The very first one came with some yummie goodies like the wheels but later years had improvements in the mechanicals. Mostly for reliability.

The Superlight was the single seat version of the Supersport. Again from memory, it was about 2-3 kilos lighter. They had a numbered plaque on the top triple, Different decals on the sides, fully-floating cast-iron disks that worked really well, the rear caliper was underslung, the mufflers were high set, and that was about it apart from losing access to the underseat storage due to the racy seat.

If you were really lucky, you got a yellow one. They were teh sex!

An accel reg for the HD's of the era is a suitable substitute (just make sure you get the 32 amp jobbie) and costs about quarter of the price.

I am going to get one, that is the reason of making some room in my storage area at the moment.
I want a nice well looked after one, like Potato's machine.
had a ride on it a while ago and they will fit the bill nicely.
Makes the right sounds, for a diesel, warming up and riding, enough power and they look the bizz.
in other words,... I am sold sadly.

this thread is right up my alley Jules, I'll be watching close...
I've finally got all the bits to build my engine, gunna start in the next few weeks.

I'm going the 984 path,it started a few years ago when I bought the big bore kit from brad black. I got a second hand set of cases off ebay and bored them to suit the barrels, The heads have been ported and ceramic coated, along with the pistin crown on the hi comp pistons, also had a low friction coating put on the skirts. I'm using the 210 veetwo cams as well.

The crank has been balanced. I also did a little mod to the cases that will give the rear piston a constant cooling jet of oil rather than the 180 deg that it gets now because the crank wheel block the flow when it goes around. And of course, I did the lightened flywheel thing.

Another good mod is the Ignitech TCIP4 programable ignition BikeBoy.org - Ducati 2V Carb Model Ignition – Reducing advance, Ignitech TCIP4 and stuff

I was only looking into dynacoils on the weekend... this looks better than anything I've found, I best be ordering a set of these!

    why NOT buy a 1989 900SS?
And I know I asked this Q before but cannot find the link anymore
So far I understand that the last of the carby models 1997 are THE ones to get.
Maybe some one explain why (again).
    I would appreciate this.
the other one I would consider is the 750 F1 or the very first series MH replica's
What is right/wrong with a SS1000Double spark FF?

you would have been looking at the 89 900ss that guy has been trying to sell for ages perhaps ???

the 900ss is generally considered the better bike alround - suspension, wheels, frame geometry, fueling (89 had the webber, tho i think that guy has swapped his over for the later mikunis )

later the model, better electrics and theoretical build quality - they didnt change that much - but later one had a better/strengthened swingarm, uprated alternator, head bolts, newer versions of the showa folks and shocks, newer/beer versions of the brembo brakes. 95 onwards got the oil temp gauge

750 f1 are rare and will cost quite a bit, the special race spec models are best and are very expensive

MHR are a bevel drive ??

nothing the 1000DS motor in my sports classic is a lot nicer/smoother/powerfuller than the 900 carby motor in my 95-900ss , not sure what a 900 efi motor's like tho

only the first ones are anything actually that differeent to the normal SS and even then that only really coz they came with the marvic 2 piece rims, mechancally they are no different.

Only america got the superlights in yellow i think, or they only got the mark 1's in yellow - everywhere else got red.

the "98" carby bike - the silver FE arent to bad - again no different to the usual bikes and just to be be wierd the USA got the later engine with internal oil lines, whereas australia and i think europe got the olde engine with the external fuel lines.

the 96/97 carby model was the last of that particular line, they moved onto fuel inj after that. usually the last of the run has most of the probs sorted out.

im led to belive there were around 6800 of the 96/97 model made worldwide, dont know if thats a small or large run by ducati standards either.

They look pretty good! They're pretty old skool, Marzocchi suspension, the lines running up to the oil cooler are wrapped in cloth, big Webber carb on them etc. Rad!

I had a 1991 900SS which had the white frame and black wheels. The best colour combo I reckon! It was reliable for me - nothing went wrong except the carbies getting a bit frozen on some cold mornings. Beautifully comfortable too.
