What would a standard SP go for these days?
I'm guessing he'd be looking at $30k, anyone gonna put a bid in if he re auctions it?

Doesn't look like anyone was willing to spend $18,000 on this bike.
Not surprising, the bike has done 36,000km. That's like 136,000km for a Honda so no wonder it needed an engine rebuild. You'd be spending a lot of $$$ and shed time to keep this bike on the road.
(Having said that, I wouldn't mind owning a nice low km 996SPS one day!)

It's no SP or SPS - a normal Strada with the bits added. All the bits and more, but how much is authenticity worth? Looks like a nice bike though!

Had alot of $$$ spent on it in its time, xhaust alone would have been over $3500.
$18K is a good price for the bike with the limited info listed.
Need more info on other mods, engine etc etc...

Although yes it's a bargwan considiring all the extras (sweet Xhaust), at the end of the day it's a strada with bits. (and Ks)
Find Used DUCATI 996 SPS Motorbikes in Australia - BikePoint
If you're gonna buy second handers SPSs are value in my book.
There are little things that make me wonder though... why spend all that $ on flash stuff like a digital dash etc and still sport standard pegs, indicators, mudgard etc?
(It can be individual choice...no accounting for taste I spose)

If it came with the original parts it would be worth it in my books. Pay at the most $25,000.

I'm no fan of digital revcounters but the footpegs, indicators and mudguard would be fairly far down the list of things to change too.
I don't know what the obsession is with changing levers and footpegs. I've seen 749's and 999's with different footpegs. The standard ones are mega adjustable. Heck I've seen a post on PSB where someone had changed the levers on some bike and were waiting to get used to them. "I find the standard levers uncomfortable (?!) so I'll spend $500 on some others which will be uncomfortable as well".

Glad it's not just me that thinks that. Most OEM footpegs nowadays look mighty fine. On the other hand, I've seen some expensive aftermarket footpegs that look like someone made them in his backyard shed. What's that all about?

At risk of getting off topic, I do agree with the above statement on both counts. Anecdotally, I actually chose to replace OEM DUC pegs for the purpose of crash protection. The folding peg = $ scenario pisses me off. Some have said it avoids the bike hooking up on stuff down the road, that has never been the case in my (previous) unplanned step offs.
I shopped around for months looking for something respectable (appearance wise) and was very pleasantly surprised to find a very slight variation in position considerably improved comfort. (996)
I have no future plans to step off on the move......
'sall personal choice.....
