A great bike no doubt...may not be a bargain ...reserve price
Could just be fishing for offers

Will watch and see..
A final Edition with low KM's like that is rare as!!!
Spotted this one a couple of days ago, if the reserve is near the starting price , would be a good buy.

No bites at all??
Hmmmm.......
Heh, I reckon he will want $30k at least.

Oh, that is a tasty offering.
I was hunting hard for one of these about 5 years ago. There was only 20 sold in OZ, of those twenty 4-5 were written off (5 years ago). I know this because I visited dealers up and down the East Coast, Adelade and Perth and gathered stats on who had what and who had written what off....thinking I might build from parts...
I always regretted not buying one I saw in Causeway m'cycles in '04, it sat there for a while after the 999 came in and started selling. (I think there was a thread in here about it?)
I was sniffing around North America about 3 years ago for one and they're even difficult to find there......
This is indeed rare and a highly desirable version, much like the 1198SP is about to be!
....race glass suggests to me that it probably has more K's than the Odo reads......

How much would an 'R' version go for in similar condition?

I think there were no 998r's imported into Australia by NFI and they had exclusive distributorship. They're pretty similar to a 996R anyway and they go for good money - $30k-$40k I think. They are so rarely up for sale that you may get lucky and get one cheaply but usually people know what they are, are after big money and will wait until they get it. Still a bit of a kick in the guts if you have owned it since new or early on in the piece as they were around $52k I think.

Ya may be right, I am ever the sceptic.
I went looking for a speedoless bracket to show you for sale but couldn't find one....resorted to the bible - old Ducati Performance parts cattledog.....(although not comprehensive, after having a look around it appears this gear is hard to find now a days)

Newer bikes, 749 and 999, are even easier (you'd be amazed and I'm not going to tell you!). They won't work without the speedo though as the immobilizer requires it present. An unlocked ECU gets rid of the immobilizer.....
