Yeah you do see them go quite cheap in the states from time to time. Too bad you can't import em.

Pretty tough.. Needs to be a personally owned import (ie you used to live there/had it registered in your name there), or you need to show it's not going on road (ie you need to take all lights/indicators etc etc off and get a permit).
The other way is you can get it in if you're a registered importer under particular schemes (primarily VIC and QLD)... Very tough for an individual though.
Anything pre 1989 is a lot easier though.
At least this is my meagre understanding.
