I sat on it on sunday and it makes the 999 feel like a stretching rack! 400cc size, 750cc twin wedged in there - you know you want it!

if you had the freedom to pick, what would be the better buy?

916 / 748 / 996

i love the 916, but the others are newer and still have the classic look. was there any major improvements as the models progressed?

you forgot the 998

Didnt all the bikes 02 and newer have better electrics in them?? or did they fix up the rocker arms to make them last longer?maybe they did both?

true, but they seem to be in the next price bracket to the others. (good 748/196/996 all in the 15-20k bracket, only 998's i've seen are all in the 20k+ window)

from what i've gathered, most post 1996/7 bikes were fitted with better electrics and okay.

Yeah, they updated everything and got rid of the old-hat styling. It's called 999.
