Dedicated Ducati 900SSie topic
I am trying to determine if the front suspension and brakes that were added to the Terblanche styled 1998 -2002 Ducati 900SS is the same as the front suspension/brakes of the 916 SPS edition.
If there are other interesting facts, fables, parts bling bits etc.etc. known here then please do post them up as well.
There is a 13000km single seat!! 900SSie for sale here on PSB plus Who Me got one as well.

Here's one: I think the seat supplier to Ducati for those 900ss's was running late with deliveries as when I saw one on the Ducati stand at the motor show in Melbourne before it came out, it had a seat made of wood which was painted black!

The forks are different as the PT ss has 50mm outer diameter forks and the 916 etc have 53mm. I think from memory that the upper yoke on yours is 50mm and the lower is 54mm but it's been a while since I put them on my ss. The forks are aslo a fair bit shorter on the 916. The 916 came out with brembo goldline calipers with 40mm spacing between the bolts and changed later to ones with 65mm. The calipers from the 999 bolt straight on and are apparently much better. I'd say the sps would have had the cast iron full floaters on it too which I have put on my 900 and are a good upgrade, though remember to change to organic pads as the sintered pads wear the softer metal quickly. One of the best looking upgrades for your bike in my opinion is the swingrm that came from the ds1000ss which is quite beautiful and a big improvement in quality. I saw one on ebay go for around $300 recently and it was brand new. Mine cost near a grand posted from france !!! $3500 from ducati !!!!

If I say correctly, my rear swing arm is the same as the SS1000DS item?

Also it looks like the ST3 has the same frontfork/brake set up as the 900ie.
Never mind all that I want to actualy ride the beast (plus the others I have here as well.)
Has some one got the very first (250 batch) 900SS (one with the black and gold paint job?) 1973??

There's not a lot of difference - I think I actually prefer the older one with its straight edges, and the underslung caliper sets it off nicely.
You take good pictures of a nice bike Jammi!Click here to see my Ducati 999R in the PSB garage... You'll love it!

To me that is way over in the price stakes.
But Like Taipan stated it is what is and that is what it costs.

main computer shat itself last night, on kn dial up till monday when the geek brigade will install new everything.
On lapper and good old dial up at the moment.
Might not wear out company safetyshoes at all but that means also no $$ to spend on frivolities.
I deem that seat to much, second hand, in price.
Just me, others can get it and have it.

Got seat back from trimmers today, easing the pain from the surgeon having yet another go.
Best of both worlds, single seat look and can take pillion.

Colour match is pretty good even in full daylight, happy!

ordered a carbon fibre part to replace the standard anti tank ball squash pillow as well, waiting till that eventuates.Last edited by Jamathi; 04-01-2010 at 06:16 PM. Reason: moar bling bling
