    Ducati 750 Sport

Found some negatives in the box that could be interesting. The first two are a Ducati 750 Sport being raced in a production race at Pukekohe - Dec 1973 or early 1974. The first Sport in New Zealand, it was delivered to Auckland Motorcyles with a half fairing, which they had to remove to race it (production bikes didn't have fairings so take it off). I haven't seen a Sport described as having a fairing, since. It was also a strong Orange colour - most I've seen since seem to be a yellowy orange....The rider was Rod Dunshea, who normally raced an Egli Vincent!

The other one is a (slightly blurry) pic of a Benelli 650, at the same meeting. This was allowed to race with the faired screen, which that batch of models was delivered with. (I had one on my GT750)

The Sport is sort of the forgotten Duc - the 750 SS attracts all the attention......

This 'could' be the 750 Sport that Brook Henry had. The front fairing was fitted to some of them. There was even a Sporty that had a very diffrent black stripe. More like a Z pattern.

If it is Brook`s old one, it ended up in my brothers possesion for some time. A fantastic experience to ride a fully sorted one.

Interesting....Sports had only one front disc. The Super Sport, 2.
I had a modded Sport with twin Scarob drilled iron discs. It stopped as good as Radial Brembo`s today.

They were the real thing !

Henry Brothers were the importers for Ducati in NZ at that time - I bought my GT from their lockup in Cambridge, mid '73 - well, I paid for it in mid '73...then had to wait until December for the shipment to turn up. Auckland Motorcycles, with Ned and the boys were the Auckland agents. I don't know if it was theirs or Brooks, but I was drooling over it, the day they stuck it in the showroom.

Here is the Z pattern. Though not original, it gives you the idea.

Dredging my memory, perhaps I overstated how good the brakes were. Probably not Radial quality, but I remember squeeling the front tyre to a stop many times.
