I'll share a container with ya ED. You get the Foggy and I'll get the SSD on the same page :-)
Ha ha, Carl got lumped with 002! That's a cool story and adds to the provenance of the bike!

Tell me, would people be angry if you rode this? Are you just buying a piece of Art?
Although I appreciate the ethos of keeping something like this pristine and can understand people buying a bike like this as an "ornament", I personally couldn't do it. It's a bike and it's meant to be ridden.
I also don't really rate this bike as a collectors piece, it's nothing overly special, it's just a minor frame mod (removal of a cross piece in the frame, something that came with the later 748R and 996) and foggy was an utter twat anyway.
It's just a stickered up 916.
Besides, what idiot would want to waste money on a homologation bike....

Being as SPS it should have a 996cc engine with all the goodies. I'll have to go and look at the book now......
This department requires no physical fitness program, as everyone gets more than enough exercise jumping to conclusions, flying off the handle, running down the boss, dodging responsibility, and pushing their luck.

Deleted - wrong thread.

According to Ian Fallon's book, this bike is identical to a "standard" 916 SPS, with the exception of the frame mod as you correctly identified, the sticker kit, and the black 5 spoke Marchesini wheels. I don't know about you, but I consider any SPS to be collectable, but I wouldn't say this particular version is any more collectable than a "standard" 916 SPS.

Couldn't agree more.
All that being said, I could live with it in my garage, but it'd get ridden periodically.

It's a nice looking replica - nicer than the Bayliss replica. The shape of the 916 doesn't seem to gel with race bike graphics as they never seem to integrate across the bike - they're sponsors logos just stuck on wherever they fit. The Bostrom replica was probably the first one to take more of an integrated approach. The nicest replica(s) of them all is the 999R Fila and 999R Xerox![]()

Interesting to see the final bid. I wouldn't pay where it's at how....but wouldn't mind staring at it for hours in my garage

Nothing to special really, over the top price tag though!!!
